Hi All
It’s been a really hot day in Spain on the 4th practice day of the 2010 World Match Fishing Championships. However, that has not stopped the fish from feeding with many anglers catching carp, bleak, catfish and the odd barbel.
There have been loads of carp caught between 2lb and 5lb, however, these are angry fish that once hooked, head off out towards the middle of the river, often resulting in bigger fish being lost. I’ve never seen so much elastic stretched from poles and so much carbon pointing skywards! Along with the monsters, there are so many fish in some sections that foul hooking has also been a problem.
Bleak are also around in numbers, but not in all the sections, so it’s got the teams thinking hard on their tactics.Do they fish for carp and hope they land every on (a lost fish is lost time), or do they try and build up a weight of bleak. One thing to note – if catfish turn up, there are no carp in the area.
Dave and I have been interviewing Mark Downes and Mark Addey about how the England team are dealing with the challenges of the heat and such a massive venue. We’ve also done interviews with members of the French and Italian teams. To see these interviews log on to matchfishing.com and subscribe to one ofthe three available plans.
Cheers
Steve
