TF_MICK THE BOOKIE~sick ~sick ~sick Well i know i have been saying that these England players are just average for the last 10 months, but now i am saying they are not even that.
World class?…..Are we mad….Rooney couldnt live with 30 other foreign players, let alone one of the best. They are just total crap, and if the Foreign players left the Premiership tomoz, our top league would be the worst in the world let alone Europe.
Capello…..OUT…We need to start again from the bottom with our youngsters, who want to play and not just to earn mega bucks. As an Arsenal supporter i know we would be the first to disappear off the radar without the foreign connection, but at least the kids would want to play and be proud to wera an Englsh shirt. That is why Wenger brings these players over cause he knows they are far and away better that our home breds.
Back to basics…Perhaps i wont be around to see England pick up the trophy,but my Grandchildren just might.~sick ~sick ~sick ~sick ~sick ~sick -

TF_Dr.PhilEven tho this is a fishing site i also feel the same way that things have to change….firstly when will they bring in full technology to this multi-billion sport ?….the goal could have stood and the game could have been different but England were very poor.
The Owen and Beckham days are over and there is no one coming thro on the horizon its time to put a limit on foreign players in the english game even if its depremental to the PREMIER league…..every game should have at least 6 home nations players!!
Bring back the spirit of 66 and 70 !!
Congrats to England in Spain…..awesome fishing with the home nations all occupying the top-6 !!! -

TF_herbiedodge think back to the munich v united game rooney got injured and hes never played a good game since that day for anyone. hes injured and hiding it so taggert will have to sort him out and that could take till christmas. as for engerland never watched a game they were crap in 1970 and there still crap now and as long as the media keep expectations way above our ability we will always be crap.i fell out of love with engerland the day they turned clough down for the managers job and cannot ever see me becoming a fan. one trick pony,s kick and rush, they have the technical ability of an aging portuguese donkey with 3 legs. new rule should be no united players should ever be allowed to play for that shite. think thats it blue nose oh you can have milner lol

TF_GaryI don’t agree with comments about inferior technique and too many foreigners in the Premier League. Four of the six top scorers in the Premier League last season were English (Rooney, Lampard, Bent, Defoe), as were four of the top six with the most assists (Lampard, Milner, Lennon, Young). The players are good enough – they are not brilliant, but they are good ENOUGH.
It is not like the German players are streets ahead. Podolski and Klose had goal scoring records last season that were comparable to Emile Heskey, but we made them look like Messi and Ronaldo! Ozil is a decent youngster, but he is no Gerrard and falls to pieces in front of goal. Khedira and Schweinsteiger ran the midfield today and were made to look outstanding, but they are not exactly Xavi and Iniesta.
The English clubs that excel in the Champions League are playing against the same players week in week out that they meet in the knockout stages of major tournaments. If they perform for their clubs, why can’t they do it for England? If it was all down to the manager, why do they turn it on for their club regardless of who the manager is (particularly thinking about the Chelsea boys here who have excelled under a succession of different managers) but then let England down under a succession of high achievers (Capello and Eriksson both have superb club records).
There is some reason that the players do not achieve when playing for England on the biggest stage and I would love to know what that reason is.
-
27/06/2010 at 7:19 pm #108871
TF_GaryJust looked this up for comparison and to prove my point: In the Bundesliga, where the Germans apparently flourish, only two of the top six leading scorers were German – Kiessling and Kuranyi – neither of whom made the German starting line up!

TF_piperpilotThe simple fact is they are NOT a team they are individuals who are clearly deluded by the money and adulation they receive. I suggest that those lemons bring back a load of wooden crosses as they are about to be crucified by the very media that deluded almost everyone that they were about to actually win the WC. I had a few quid on them not even making it out of the first round but so what I’ve done my money but I think the point that England are incapable of winning anything with the incumbents(Coach/FA/Team)they have now has been proven,

TF_Serious SamPerhaps they’d do better under a manager that can speak English.
He can barely manage a sentence, how the hell can he explain tactics or gee up the lads going ‘errrrrrrr’ and scratching the back of his head.
Just like the players have to be English so should the manager, if we did ever go on and win the cup under a foreign manager then to me it’d mean nothing as the team wasn’t English.

TF_KatarinoI’ll add my 2 bobs worth again.
Capello picked the best he had available and they are not good enough.
Only 35% of Premier League players are English.
As long as everyone keeps paying the Sky subs and believing the Andy Gray yelling about, “the best league in the world” this is what you will get.
The Premier league is totally uncompetitive, look at the old ‘first’ divisions from the 60’s and 70’s and you’ll see what I mean. The problem has been compounded by politically correct “non-competitive” PE teaching in schools. This is wrong from every point of view because the fact is, LIFE is competitive (and quite often unfair) and sport was supposed to teach you that it is. The effect of schools being terrified of legal action because a kid breaks something playing sport just adds on top. (For the record I was one of those kids, collar bone playing rugby, what would that be worth in compo these days? I was back at school a few days later….)
1) Limit the number of foreign imports in the Prem (since when did this country every need to import Goalkeepers???? Time was the best 4 English Goalies would walk into any other team in the world).
2) Bring back the b*****d PE teachers of the bygone age, they weren’t nice but you learnt what life was all about.
3) Coach kids properly and look local, they are there but aren’t getting the chance. As long as the current system carries on you’ll get what we have. The current crop are OK but there aren’t enough of them and they are overpaid and overhyped as to their true worth on the world stage leading to the kind of arrogance we see in papers…. “£55k a week Jonathon? They’re taking the……” and on it goes.

I made similar comments about the premier league in Jeff’s thread.
When the custodians of the game whore it out to a TV station whose primary aim is money-making from a clientele of beer-guzzling couch-potatoes the resultant demise shouldn’t be a great surprise.

TF_KatarinoThis isn’t going to make anyone feel any better but needs saying. I spent the last few days in Berlin (got back yesterday) and everyone I spoke to was looking forward to it but were mostly resigned to England winning!!!
“Our team is too young”
“You have Rooney, Gerrard…”Sadly, I have to report on the U_bahn station manager who, after publicly berating his staff for their inefficiency in allowing an undergound train to arrive 27 seconds late, committed suicide in his shame and did not live to see their victory 😉

Ben1Participanti watch alot of football and England in a way remind me of real madrid, too many individual players and not enough fire. if you watched the argies you would see every players work rate is much higher than ours. And capello has made some bad judements like taking our only goal scorer off and putting the donkey (heskey) on which was not wise. 4-5-1 would of been better for us with gerrard just off rooney. And Terry was well off the pace, he may look good for chelsea as he has essien and ballack to cover him.
Harry Rednapp for manager, would be class. -

TF_SwimfeederSeasoned defenders not knowing how to defend, seasoned midfield players not knowing how to play in midfield, seasoned forwards not knowing how to attack, a distinct lack of effort throughout the team bordering on lazy, players playing out of position, no team spirit, no shape and no idea……the England team did not have a lot going for them did they?
The FA are paying an Italian £6 million a year for that?
I posted on here days ago that England have lost their identity and Cappello was out of his league………..the proof ,if ever it were needed was there for all to see today, Rooney and co just did not want to play for him, Stevie Wonder could see that!
Cappello and his man management style has destroyed the England players confidence, furthermore, all he has done is confuse the hell out of them in the process……. has he progressed the England team? well, he has probably finished a few players international careers.
I asked this question on here the other day, and no one was able to answer it;
How, as a proud Englishman, would you feel if you were surrounded by an Italian coach with an Italian coaching staff playing in a foreign Country, under their scrutiny and critical eye?
Sure the players are to blame, sure the manager/coach is to blame…..but ultimately the FA must shoulder the real blame for yet another World Cup shambles.

Sacking Capello isn’t going to change anything or make us better, there isn’t anyone out there who can do the job better than him.
Don’t give me this rubbish about getting an English manager like Harry Redknapp or Roy Hodgson, Roy won’t take the job because he’s going to Liverpool and Harrys not upto it. He’s not got any experiance at European level never mind world.
We can’t just keep sacking managers every 2/3/4 years because it’s obvisously not working. At least let him keep his job till his contract ends at the Euro by then we might be starting to see some progress.

tunnel topperas i posted the other day, it does not matter who the manager is they pick the same old players who eventually let them down. it is time to accept that they may be the best english playeers in the premiership bet they may a poor england team (results back this up.),
it is time to pick a squad of younsters with no delussions of grandiure and let them grow together as a team.as for the manager. all year we have listned to hanson, shearer and lawrence enxplaining how they players have got it wrong what they should have done and what tacticks the manager should employ. it’s time they where given the job of england manager collectively and lets see how good they acctually are. ~clap ~clap

TF_DodgeThe FA always need a fall guy to cover their own sorry arses , Capello has a fantastic management track record, he hasnt become a crap manager in the space of 2 weeks. Something within the England camp has gone very badly wrong , it showed its face after the Algeria debacle. Realistically we never had a chance of winning the world cup with Green & James first choice keepers , not one top class center half , a midfield which doesnt know which system it is playing and a hopelessly out of form Wayne Rooney as our only first choice striker ! Guess the media lead us all to believe we could win it so they could make a few extra quid as per usual ~sick

TF_MarkTOur problem is for 3 yrs and 11 months out of every 4 years the focus is on Club success, is it any wonder that the National Side cant deliver in the 1 month that interests the media. Until the Clubs stop riding the Sky Cash Cow the England team will remain what they are now, average.
Ask any Utd, City, Liverpool or Chelsea fan what they would rather have there club success or National success and the majority would say Club. As long as the Clubs continue to play for obscene amounts of money and continue to pay obscene wages. The national side will continue to fail.

Peter Taylor, you must of banged your head to write that. Bet Leicester City and Crystal Palace fans wouldn’t agree.
There is no-one out there who can come in and do better. They may aswell keep him till after the Euro’s they’ve got nothing to lose. But if they sack him they’ve got to pay his and his staffs wages for the next two years, then pay someone else an even bigger fee to come in.

The future is in our youth weather you like it or not. AS for l?city they had a chairman who picked the squad or had you not noticed the amount of so called managers they have had since M?M BEEN THERE ?? AS FOR SKINT PALACE THEVE ALLWAYS HAD PROBLEMS R N COMES TO MIND, PS AS YOU COME FROM MANC RED NOSE OR BLUE NOSE ??? -
29/06/2010 at 11:59 pm #109126
TF_MarkTHaving a good record for the under21’s has nothing to do with it, the man can’t even manage a lower division side never mind a senior national side.
Some or maybe most of the u21’s can’t even get into there club teams never mind the senior team. If they were good enough they’d have already played in the England senior team or at least there clubs. There is probably 2or3 players that could be future England stars they are Jack Rodwell and Jack Wilshere and maybe Chris Smalling.
Do agree the future is in the youth but not that lot, they’d do worse than what we’ve got. They need to be playing decent top flight football to be able to compete at international level and unfortunately they won’t be unless there is a shake up with the premierleague.
Like i said before they may aswell keep Capello till at least the Euro’s, we have nothing to lose.
Oh i’m a United fan.

30/06/2010 at 4:48 pm #109150
TF_MarkTIf i was Capello i wouldn’t f**k off, it’s the FA’s fault for letting him sign a contract a week before the World cup.
I’d keep these players for the Euro’s
Joe Hart
Ashley Cole
Glen Johnson
Joe Cole
Steven Gerrard
Frank Lampard
James Milner
Peter Crouch
Jermain Defoe
Wayne RooneyThe problem with bringing in the youth now and letting them taste defeat early is the public want results and NOW. If we do what you want and bring them all in now we won’t qualify for the Euro’s and there’ll be even more of a backlash than there is now.
