Linear Fisheries’ Gaunts Lake has produced a new lake record carp in the shape of a 37lb 12oz mirror caught by Ian Day. He was using Richworth Multiplex boilies on the hook along with broken boilies and pellets in PVA bags at the Oxfordshire day ticket venue.

Ian, a degree student at Sparsholt College on work experience at Linear, has been working during the day and fishing at night on different lakes on the site.

He had already been rewarded with a 23lb 8oz fish from Manor Farm but the ’37’ knocks his previous personal best for six.

Bailiff Roy Parsons recognised the fish from last year as one that then weighed 31lb 8oz – so that fish has gained over 6lb since then.

Roy also points out that Guants’ 35lb plus fish from last year has yet to be caught. “We are now hoping it will make 40lb,” he said.
