ANGLING globetrotter Zyg Gregorek was told he had to pay a bill of more than £8,000 run up by thieves after his mobile phone was stolen in South Africa.
Zyg and Rosemary Gregorek who run the popular Angler’s Paradise complex at Halwill near Holsworthy, Devon, were on holiday when the phone was stolen in Johannesburg.
They only realised it was missing the day before they left for Britain.
T-Mobile innitially said it was unlikely to waive the bill which shows the phone was used almost non-stop every minute for a week, with calls to countries such as Pakistan, Qatar, Senegal and Ethiopia. However, they have since changed their mind
T-Mobile initially sent the couple a bill for £1,300, but that increased to £8,115.29 when the firm included the full list sent from South Africa.
The phone was cut off when the company became suspicious of the huge increase in calls, several days before the couple reported it missing.
