maggot_drownerWas there last week and mainly pellets. Rovers 1,2,3 all fishing pellets shallow either on the pole or waggler. Pollawyn fishing prety well from usual pegs, twin oaks starting to fish a little better, again pellets. Sycamore won the rovers with 205lbs with pellets shallow on the pole. I fished waggler on sycamore with 8mm pellets and bagged up one afternoon.
Hope it dries out a bit before you go, some of our lads were dues back today but think they might be delayed due to the M5!

TomWi was down the same week as you MD but we never met!
i was down for two weeks though first week i drew poo and caught poo, second week i had peg 36 twin oaks and was second in the gold match with 92lb lost a rediculose amount of fish! tony gilbert won with 96 of trelawny whihc i really should have had!
in the thursday rover i drew 114 out of 115 and found 36 twin oaks was still there so rused to the peg got a puncture on the way got there with 25 mins to set up and had 135lb and won the rover the whole complex had been fishing really hard that week so i fancied it for a win.
all in all a cracking two weeks!

maggot_drownerWell done TomW, I fancies 36 T/O on the rover but it had gone by the time I got there! :o(
My mate got 34 on the Silver match and made a right pigs ear of it, as we say in Yorkshire! Says he’s never seen so many carp disappear so quickly when they told us to start the match! !35lb’s about right when you look at the previous few weeks, think the 199lb & 205lb that won my week must have been flukes, fish feeding, not flukey anglers! -

TomWlol i drew peg 114 out of 115 on thursday mate! and still had it after i ahd finished 2nd of it on the monday in gold match!
Couldnt belive it!
well if you look back through the results on twin oaks the last weight to come of the high numbers was mid june! and when i fished it on the monday the next weight was 50lbish!
id say anywhere fomr peg 34 down will fish really well and probably beat the other twin oaks whihc is fishing patchy to say the least!
MD i noticed that the whole complex was fishing its nads of that week me and tone went down polawyn and never stopped catching sycamore was the same and so was twin oaks!
it was that solid that week that i had servere arm ache by the friday! only just better now!
what ya ave of where in the junior match scouser?

ericthomasParticipanttomW im they this coming sat for 2wks did you win with 8mm pellet or 6 mm mate
-
23/07/2007 at 9:05 pm #61204
TomW8mm always 8mm!!!!
on the monday match i proberbly hooked 60 odd carp only landed 38 though but only fed 1 1/2 pints of 8mm whihc is not alot of pellet for 92lb.
on the thursday i did about 2 and half pints but spent longer fishing it but 2 and half pints is nothing! just keep on casting is all the advcie i can give im talking 10 seconds max per cast and please dont use those god awful loaded wags if your thinking of tryin wag down there you wont have half the weight.
any more info let us know.

maggot_drownerIf you’re going to fish the Rovers match if you get a good draw (1-10) pick the peg you want, if you get a cr@p draw just look for some space and keep your fingers crossed. On some of the lakes pleasure anglers can ruin it for you but when i fished Sycamore they helped as they fished a rod length out and I had the island to myself!

TomWhow you do in the rover MD?
were you the bloke wit 205lb?
-
25/07/2007 at 7:06 pm #61209
maggot_drownerDid alright off a bit of a sh!t draw, came 8th o’all so not too displeased with that considering the draw I had and the state of my peg. Couldn’t cast accurately enuf ‘cos of the trees. Lad that got 205lb was on peg 16, round the far side.

RubbaDubHi Tom, great info!! I am down there in a few weeks time and cant wait! You mentioned casting frequently was this on the bomb or the wag?
-
25/07/2007 at 10:32 pm #61211
AnonymousStraight lead in the grass and pellet wag, have been the methods of late, but would expect some big weights over the next month with pole shallow, especially on polly and Tralawney. loads of fish to be caught on all lakes, with ton weights coming from Jenny,s and canal being the norm. Seems strange being by White acres and not being able to fish the matches.

TomWwallace, i caught on the wag, think on the WA website it says i caught n the bomb.
i was probably casting 2-3 times a minute sometimes 4 when i was getting loads of bites.
one tip for the wag on oaks is dont even think about picking up the catapult while the wag is in the water, if your going to get a really positive bite it will be in the first 6-7 seconds so make sure your not goign to miss it by making surely your tight to the float(sometimes as it lands i lean forward so then when i strike i have less line to pick up) and definatly not having a catapult in your hand as if you feed twice a chuck A you will go through your limit quicker and B to get the pellet to drop again you will ahve to twitch it back 2-3ft whihc on some days will be a waste of time.

28/07/2007 at 6:22 pm #61216
TF_red_anglerTonyC how did you go on fishing wise, any good catches? Can you point me to some good peg’s that fished well when you was there?
-
28/07/2007 at 6:54 pm #61217
AnonymousYou gave him a good battering there Tom.
No Tom I did not fish canal, Harry billing had 69lb on there the other week for another win tho, horrible man beat me by 2lb, I was nearly the Cornish champ lol.
Tony I ended up fishing the Porth festival, coming second on the lake on day one with 26lb, Harry won that day with 29lb, he also won day two and three lol, learn,t loads from the master all the same.
PS your dad gave me the wrong mobile btw so could not get in touch.

28/07/2007 at 7:13 pm #61218
TF_TonyCurdred_angler, plenty of good catches mate all-round despite bad weather, most pegs on the high bank of match lake from 15-32 are worth a go, 36,17,18,16,19 on twin oaks all again worth a go, 13,14,15 and 16 on Sycamore are consistent. I’d try to avoid Acorn at the moment to be honest though. Waggler on Twin Oaks, Match Lake and Sycamore take some beating but on the match lake the conker has been taking its fair share in recent weeks (Probably due to the wind making it hard to fish the waggler properly).
Skip, Can’t keep letting him beat you mate now can you!? Almost as bad as Tom beating me is that!! lol Seriously though Porth sounded as if it fished fairly well for the most part. I will send you proper number via e-mail anyway mate.
Tony

AnonymousI know what you mean Tony, a few years back there was no chance of the Harry billings of this world beating me.
But then I woke up.
-
28/07/2007 at 7:57 pm #61220

28/07/2007 at 9:18 pm #61224
TF_TonyCurdGo to White Acres for a while and come back to this abuse from bloomin’ Skip, and for your information there was an old girl fishing round the other side and bagged up on micro roach so I was at a disadvantage of having someone fishing to my right whereas Toms flier was rigid with fish….a good angler would of had 100lb out of there but never mind. LOL
-
28/07/2007 at 9:29 pm #61225
TomWha ha i had one spare peg next to me and turn up to find your on it you ahd about 10 spare pegs so dont gimmie that mr curd!
ha ha it didnt fihs very well that day anyhow, if they would have turned up closer we would have bagged but no had the 205 needed to win, we drew well and truly out of that one!

28/07/2007 at 9:38 pm #61226
AnonymousThere have been a couple of big weights from canal this year, and its a big improvment from past years, wish they would flatten the mountain behind as you normally have to fish long. Andy Gregory had 77lb of it a few weeks ago in the rover with a early draw, but he,s mad lol. wish they would come onto the 6 inch line, it would be like Mawgan porth.
-
28/07/2007 at 10:16 pm #61227
TF_TonyCurdCanal will be a cracker in about 2 years time when their a bit bigger and will easilly rival Twin Oaks.
-
30/07/2007 at 9:43 am #61228
TF_red_anglerTonyC, i presume the conker is pellet on the bomb? If so what size pellet’s are you feeding & using on the hook, what did you find the best feeding pattern?
Cheer’s. -
30/07/2007 at 10:17 am #61229
TF_spotter1707the conker is pellet wrapped in paste.
-
30/07/2007 at 11:55 am #61230
TF_TonyCurdJust feeding 8mm’s with 8mm or 11mm on the hair with stiff paste wrapped around it, be prepared to leave it in for upto 10mins before re-casting. It will normally end up going off the rest before then…as for feeding pattern all we was doing it feeding 10 pellets just after casting in and another 10 pellets just a few mins before re-casting and just keep it going and ultimately catching shallow on the waggler.
-
31/07/2007 at 12:25 pm #61231
