sparksWhats the best way to attach your pole rig to your pole? and do you think its best to make up your rigs on the bank or at home?

AnonymousTry dacron connectors,i make my own out of drennan 10 lb dacron.
make a coonector and tie direct to your elastic then slide a small length of rig tubing over the dacron so that it covers the knot in your elastic, very simple and very tidy.I usually spend a few hours a couple of days a week tying rigs and putting them onto winders..theres nothing like being prepared for a match and the last thing you want to be doing is wasting time before the match starts tying rigs.

maggot_drownerDacron or fly leader connectors, very little wear on the top of the elastic with these. Dumped stonfo’s a couple of years ago and would never go back.

sparksIf you use dacron connectors how would you connect the rig?
-

FORDY 1ParticipantSame way as u would with the octopus knot.

AnonymousTie a double loop at the end of the rig line and then pass the line through the bottom loop.you then place this over your knot on the dacron connector and then pull tight which secures it in place.

FORDY 1ParticipantNever heard of that one!

TF_spotter1707I have recently changed to dacron, which I make from Drennan carp dacron 10lb bs, & find them the best.
Look at andysangle.com web site for direction on how to make them.
Has any one tried the new attachment that allows you to vary the length of the rig without breaking it down?
I always tie my own rigs at home.
Regards Peter. -

Corndawg moderatorParticipantI changed to Dacron last year, and it is the best thingI have done, since changing to hollow laccy………
I use 15 lb Dacron, but use a 1″ piece of Black Hydro to cover the knot.
Makes it look smaller,and neater,IMO.
Likewise,I make all my rigs up at home,in the comfort of the armchair, waching fishing related programmes………..
Obviously with a few bevvys’.it would be rude not to wouldn’t it ?…….. :0)

TF_Chum MixerParticipantI use a crows foot but tie short dacron loop behind this then superglue the knot.
Crows foot’s are ok but the line keeps cutting through the elastic like stonfo’s. -

TF_Chum MixerParticipantOoooops and make 95% of my rigs up at home.

TF_spotter1707Which pole & what elastics ?

03/08/2007 at 5:38 pm #62140
alfieParticipantuse a drennan winder bung mate and if it’s loose you can tighten it or tight you can loosen it.
If your topkits are not cut back far enough then your gonna have problems.
I use a maver internal number 5 or if you like the external use the big drennan black external -
03/08/2007 at 5:43 pm #62141
TF_spotter1707I use a winder bung but attach the elastic using dacron loop to loop.
You can then tension the elastic as the winder will accept the dacron far easier than the elastic. -

FORDY 1ParticipantOctopus/ crows foot i just do the knot with 3 pieces of elastic.
-
03/08/2007 at 9:36 pm #62144
Blaggers.ParticipantSparks, ditch the number section and fit with an internal bush. Use this in conjunction with a winder bung to make minor alterations on the bank. The wider bore of the top-kit with the one removed will help the rubber move more freely.

BrendanParticipantWhat knot do you use to attach the dacron to the elastic?
Cheers
