TF_waveydavey21Woody,
Indeed I am sir. Come on spill the beans, how is it fishing? We need all the help we can get. It better not be fishery pellets only as we have just done a deal with GOT Baits for our pellets. Ray Best what a guy!! -

30/08/2007 at 9:37 pm #63756
TF_mart4666i fish there regular and was told last week that from sept. yr allowed 3 pints but must be fishery own pellet, mind it wasn’t tackle shop at venue but another angler so he may have gettin amount wrong. as far as fishin goes pellet up in water is better than meat up in water it seems but 1.5 pints aint much bait for 5 hrs solid. lake wise prey for partridge or skylark with end where wind been blowin favoured. also paste fishin well at 6 and 13m

TF_waveydavey21Mart4666,
Thanks for the Update.
The National we are fishing is Thursday 13th September.
Surely the organisers of this national cannot change the amount of bait we are allowed to use at this late stage. Certainly we haven’t been informed of any changes.
Really looking forward to it. Carp fishing will be pretty new to us as we come from Northern Ireland. Woody999 I think you know more than you are letting on!!! Hopefully we can meet up for a beer. Cheers. DG -

TF_waveydavey21Woody, We are staying in Carlton Miniott to be near the venue this year. Yes we do enjoy it and look forward to it months in advance. We did well last year coming third. A very proud moment in our short history of competing in the nationals. I will try and find you somehow. Send me an-mail with your details. Cheers. DG

TF_whatsaroachThis is typical of this match no one will know whats happening till a couple of days before ! And believe me waveyd the organisers will change things they did last time it was here. E mail me with details of where you are staying as we are in Carlton Miniott from the Sunday before

31/08/2007 at 9:33 pm #63765
AnonymousWaveydavey,i’ll send e-mail sometime soon..Thats a good idea you and whatsaroach staying in Carlton Miniott as you’ll only be minutes away from the venue..Were stopping at York university which means we’ll have a 50 mile drive to the venue from our digs on the day of the match, could do without that !..Mind you i’m looking forward to the presentation and dinner at the Ebor Suite at York racecourse on thursday evening, hopefully the nosh will be good and plenty of it..We always sneak a couple of bottles of port in to have with the cheese and biscuits afterwards (naughty but nice).

TF_whatsaroachUnfortunatly we move to the uni on the Wednesday so we will have a long drive too but i’m told that if the directions given by the organisers are ignored there is a better route. Last time if you remember it fished very hard on the day, we had been up there practicing for the week and had bagged up on carp but on the day the carp had done a runner so much so that i was 1st equal in the section with less that 30lb We later found that for some unknown reason ( due to slight deoxegenation we were told ) cold water had been pumped through the lakes. Now this of course may be pure coincidence but after 30 yrs i’m so suspicious ! i also know other bits and pieces but im not even going there !
-
01/09/2007 at 8:23 pm #63771
AnonymousWasn’t aware of that whatsaroach cos i drew the Oaks last time round so am totaly oblivious as to what went off at Woodlands,i only remember that the winner came from there with about 70 lb i think..If cold water was pumped through the day before then i’m not surprised it fished cack.
last time round the Oaks didnt fish very well either,if i remember correctly,i had about 28 lb for 5th on the lake.Hopefully it’ll be better this time round and it also sounds like the Oaks will compete with Woodlands this time !

TF_waveydavey21Are any of you chaps going to the Euros in Germany. We are sending a team for the first time. Really struggling to get info on the venue.
-
02/09/2007 at 10:51 am #63773
TF_whatsaroachWoody, different lake on the oaks this time i think its the new snake. still think the individuals will come from woodlands though providing the venue fishes as it should but who knows what will happen this time round
-
02/09/2007 at 10:54 am #63774
TF_whatsaroachEuros Yep i’ll be there and the info is very hard to find all i know is its fast and wide and 30ft deep in places !!!!! 2 ex army lads fell over laughing when i said we have to fish a pole only day they said NO ONE even tries the pole it’s so fast ! but hey who cares the beer and wine are cheaper than they were in Florence last year !
-
02/09/2007 at 4:02 pm #63775
AnonymousDo you know how many teams are taking part this year ?..I think that will be a determining factor wether all of the individuals come from Woodlands or not as i’ve been told that if there aren’t that many spare pegs it will fish harder than usuall as you need a bit of room for it to fish well.
-
02/09/2007 at 4:08 pm #63776
TF_whatsaroach33 teams at last count im told the max they could take was 34 so all the cr@ps in
-
02/09/2007 at 4:21 pm #63777
AnonymousGood turn out this year then compared to the last few years (mid 20’s),should be interesting..Sounds as though the Oaks might compete with Woodlands then.
Be nice if i can go one or two better than the last two i fished (didn’t fish the Glos canal)but came 4th individual 2004 and 3rd individual 2005. -
02/09/2007 at 4:57 pm #63778
TF_whatsaroachNot fished a national for a few years due to lack of interest within the force up until last year when for some reason they decided to fish Glos canal and i found something better to do that day as we had just got back from the euros in florence ! Now that was proper fishing lol
-
02/09/2007 at 5:46 pm #63779
TF_dunnowaveydavey21… Ive seen you fish and you would be better buying a set of golf clubs
-
02/09/2007 at 5:48 pm #63780
AnonymousFortunately i had other commitments last year,i’m glad i didnt go as the fishing was completely pants..if you caught a solitary perch it gave you good section points i heard.
-
02/09/2007 at 5:56 pm #63781
TF_whatsaroachit’s true i actually walked the bank and had a laugh ! though the Glos lads had it sorted with a record number of points to win it but they didn’t want to know on a real venue this year
-
02/09/2007 at 6:19 pm #63782
AnonymousTake it they’re not taking part this year then..oh well, their loss, they probably cant get their heads round the fact that their floats will go under on a regular basis ! lol.
-
02/09/2007 at 6:23 pm #63783
TF_whatsaroachThat is exactly what i told them ! i can’t repeat what they said but if it fights back they are frightened of trying to catch it
-
02/09/2007 at 6:26 pm #63784
TF_waveydavey21Dunno how could you and your meant to be on my side! But lads there is so much more to it than the fishing. I have found the crack to be mighty, but also hard work practising for a week. The Thursday night’s I have found to be superb. There is also some good guys on the PSUK conmmittee, who to be honest it has been a pleasure to meet. We ran a small compettion in NI this year which was a great success, we even invited the Garda but they ran scared!! Hioefully we will see you all over here in the future.

02/09/2007 at 7:27 pm #63787
AnonymousHave to agree with you waveydavey,if we took it that serious then we wouldn’t go out on the lash on the wednesday night..Our ritual usually goes something like…
Find a couple of local establishments that serve real ale and sample a few of their delights, move onto witherspoons where we stay for the rest of the evening and slowly get out of our trees..Then at chucking out time follow our noses which draw us to the nearest decent indian restaurant for a good curry and a couple of pints of cobra ale, order taxi back to digs and then fall into bed, wake up in the morning, take a few paracetamols,go for breakfast and then load the kit up ready for battle to commence ! ave it.

AnonymousWould be nice if you hosted it over there on the emerald isle, haven’t been to Ireland since the 97 classic..Used to go to Killykeen for a week with a few mates each year aswell, loved that as it was such a chill out week.
just cant fit everything in these days so something had to give..Kinda miss it a bit so it would be great to come over again on a national. -
02/09/2007 at 8:45 pm #63789
TF_waveydavey21Woody999,
We are seriously looking at running the PSUK event in 2011. Finding a venue big enough does present us with some problems. We may have to split it over different venues, ie lakes rivers etc, but we are actively looking at it. Look forward to seeing you. Who do you fish for? -
02/09/2007 at 9:05 pm #63790
AnonymousThe Bards county..Warwickshire.
