TF_PikeyI’ve been using paste like that recently and at first nobody believes that you can put it on a hook ! I have found that part of the key is to pick the paste up with wet fingers, I then put it in the palm of my hand, place the hook in the middle of it and sort of pour it into the cup. Don’t know why the hook stays in but it does. It does produce far more fish than normal soft paste on venues where they have seen paste for a while..

Anonymousnow try it with a long tag of line from ur hook,ie; the bit whats left over when you tie on a hook, for some unknown reason it holds v/soft paste on great.

TF_swingtipbryuse a banded hair with a pellet and mould the sloppy paste on the pellet the hook is above
do not mould into a ball of paste is the key to fishing it soft -

Steve BeavanIf the paste is so sloppy that water is sitting on the surface, then surface tension will ‘stick’ the paste to hook and line.
Once the paste is in the water, water pressure being greater than air pressure will help the paste maintain it’s shape.
BTW, what is the max depth everyone would fish paste this soft?

TF_PikeySwingtipbry – If it is “Sloppy” you can’t mould it at all !
SB – I’ve only fished it in depths up to 4 foot. I think you are right about the reasons it doesn’t come off the hook. I also think that because it is so wet, it can’t take in any more water and break it down. I am convinced you catch fish on it that you wouldn’t on any other texture of paste. Sometimes you are getting little dips and knocks on soft paste that people think are silvers but you put on some sloppy paste and catch a carp straight away.

TF_gloves007i find fishing paste at distance carnt be done with out 2 pole rollers as the pole needs to glide smoother then smooth through ure hands any jolt will pull the hook from the paste or tangle ure rig but ive found at any distance on a ruf day ure fig will get tangled anyway how i overcome this it to put a samll rubber round the top of the bristle for the line to cum through then fish it 2 to 3 inch from pole tip on good conditions and 56 to six on bad

BigbassmanParticipantI have been using this type of paste for 2 years and regularly catch on it when other struggle.
I have showen a few people how sloppy my paste mix is and at first none of them believed it would stay on the hook.
Also, I always mix it the night before so the paste is dead rather than being active.

TF_PikeyBigbassman – What paste do you use ?
Where do you fish ? -

BigbassmanParticipantManor House (Nateby), Highfield Fisheries (Hambleton), Whitmore (Kirkham). The waters we fish are not prolific, but can throw up a ton every now and again.
Normally just use a simple 50/50 mix with ground down fishery pellets and a fishmeal gb such as GSS or CBG.
If you use something quite oily tho such as ground down halibut pellets the oils in the slop really hold the paste on the hook

TF_swingtipbrypikey i do the same as you but instead of on the palm of my hand i put it on my leg
what helps when droping out pot is to put on some pellet
impossible to swing out by hand
paste texture very soft but goes slightly tacky which helps grip -
