After resuming fishing after a lengthy gap I purchased a cheap 13m Shakespeare pole last year.

I now want to step up, but cannot justify spending a fortune on a new pole and want to know your thoughts about the 201.

I fish mainly commercials and don’t want to spend much over £700, whether I will fish at full length I don’t know but I better off spending a bit more to get 16m?

What other poles should I compare or do you recommend?

        Thanks for your help!

don’t worry forest, not all us match angler are ignorent! I would advise spendi ng as much as u can on pole as u will always need or want somethin better in the future and the better the pole the longer u can get away with it for. £700 is a good price to pay for a pole considering u are just coming back to fishing so thats a good start. For that price i would seriously consider the garbolino g60 £650, shimano speedmaster (£750)(fosters) second hand garbolino g796 even. Its definatley worth gettin yourself into a good tackle shop and spending acouple of hours sitting down on a box and trying out a few because its u who will fish with it, most shops will be helpful enough to talk u through the difference between the poles. best of luck pal, and welcome back
