Anyone got any informed opinion of either of these poles. I’ve handled the maver in a shop but not the daiwa as yet. Must admit i’m being seduced by the number of kits the maver comes with….but a little worried by their tendency to discontinue poles so regularly!

I had the 371 up in the shop and i wasn’t all that impressed with it tbh. Th sections in the middle didn’t feel all that strong if you get my drift. A friend has the Whisker and he said its excellent. He sold his 995 because he said he didnt have much confidence in it especially if he hooked something big. I recently bought the sensas power match 664 and it is really really good, not used it loads but when i have it doesnt disapoint, just ask woody999 cos he’s had it longer and will be able to give it a better review

I own the maver and my mate has the Whisker. We have both fished with each others poles and both agree that the whisker feels the strongest of the 2, although I haven’t yet broken a section. The finish on the maver is better and in the rain it don’t stick to your hands like the whisker does.If you are heavy handed the whisker would be the better bet for you, but as I said I have yet to break a section but I have always been lucky with my poles and only had 1 breakage and that was when I was re-elasticating a top 3 and caught it under my my settee when I lifted it up and snapped the no 3. I would be happy with either of the poles. One last thing is that the tops are a lot longer on the maver than the whisker so if you fish shallower venues this may be a factor.

I have the Whisker AT and I chose it over the Maver 371. I owned a Maver G-series before buying the Whisker AT so considered another Maver but kept my options open.

I had both poles side by side in the shop and to be honest I thought the Whisker AT came out tops in most of the categories.

                Cheers for the info lads.
Banjo, have you had any trouble with the finish of the Whisker AT in the wet? Also, do you know how much extra power kits are for the pole? – I’ve never owned a daiwa so their generic top kits system seems a bit confusing to me…!

Also, looking thru the mags, there seems to be some confusion about whether it comes with 3 match top 3’s, or 2 top 3’s and a top 4. Can anyone who knows for sure let me know which?

After 2years of the scene shouldnt you be spending £100 on a pole and getting used to fishing again? Just some advice
