fittersParticipantive heard that a new pole gis12 is coming out
-
12/11/2007 at 6:58 pm #67547
Anonymousbugger! paid £2k for mine last year. as fitters say probably obsolite now the G12 is coming out. i like it it, but broke first time out!! which im sure was a faulty no 5 or damaged in transit but been ok since. had fish to 16lb and lots 100lb + bags on it i use upto black hydro only, prefer match power t2’s to the short stops and only use the short 4’s.
when i bought the pole for 2k i got:
pole 16m
1 x match top 4
3 x power match top 2
4 x short stops
4 x Short 4
8m striker kit
cupping kit
holdal.
l hope this helps. Kev. -

-
12/11/2007 at 7:35 pm #67549
TF_thesaintCheers Kev…i think i might just take the plung.
-
12/11/2007 at 7:50 pm #67550
TF_bartezParticipantthe top kits are very well priced and they do a great selection as well, but after the no4 section this has got to be the dearest pole i have come across for spares.
-
12/11/2007 at 10:34 pm #67551
Anonymousconfusingly there are the G10 absolute and the 2G10 mine is the 2G10, the absolute was £300 dearer when i bought, the 2G10 is much cheaper for sections apparently, although i cannot give any prices i believe the absolute is at least twice the price for no5, when my section broke on a saturday i had a replacement by wednesday and the poles had only come into the country the week before. top kits are the same as any other genis pole and stocked in most good shops

TF_stu.sThe answer to your original question the saint is that these poles never ACTUALLY cost 3500 pounds, that was the rrp (3600)which nobody really pays.
It’s real price was never more than £2300.
Fitters, the gis 12 is about to be released.
The saint,i have had my gis10 for 18 months now and never had a problem,it is the best pole i have ever used. -
13/11/2007 at 1:49 pm #67553
TF_craigogis10 is a crackng pole and I reckon is on a par with the tourny but dearer for sections and topkits.
The 2g10 is also an immense pole and incorporates all the stuff you would associate with maver/reglass – i.e suncore etc but is still built to lercs specification I think.
Not seen the GIS12 but the GIS10 and 2G10 are awesome so the 12 must be a quality piece of kit
gis10 price is down as newer top of range products have replaced it – same with all poles
-
13/11/2007 at 5:32 pm #67554
TF_thesaintThanks for all the advice..Now i just need to sell my tricast and i will either buy the 2gis10 or gis10 pole
-
13/11/2007 at 8:04 pm #67555
TF_gis9What is the cheapest price for a gis 10 and where from and are all the sections compatible with other gis poles ?
-
13/11/2007 at 8:47 pm #67556
TF_thesaintthe cheapest i have seen it for brand new at 16m is at Fosters, Birmingham for £1,500. From what i have been told the top kits are relative cheap but the main sections are not…..
-
14/11/2007 at 7:17 pm #67557
mikeomaniaFosters have a trend to buy a huge bulk of one pole, normally clearing out the end of stock, such as the origanal antares and speedmaster, they then sell these poles at a huge slash in price compared to the rest of the market. Also preston have devloped a new flagship pole ,as unvailed at the tackle and guns show not to long ago. Still nothin wrong with the pole and as long as u compoare it to other poles in the price range you wont go fair wrong. Plus with it being in gis ange all tops are useable with others in the gis range.
-
14/11/2007 at 9:15 pm #67558
TF_thesaintmikeomania, so with a 1,500 limit, do you think this is my best buy.?
-
14/11/2007 at 9:19 pm #67559
mikeomaniait really is on your head saints, how good a pole feels and reacts in your hands may not be the same as the next angler. If your spending £1’500 i wud definatley spend a day or two at some of the big stores tryin a few out. The gis10 is hard to beat, but you can pick up second hand tourney pro’s around this price and they are pretty unbeatable.
-
14/11/2007 at 9:40 pm #67560
TF_thesaintcheers, already had a tourney but kept breaking the fourth section. A bit of a nightmare and expense for me. your right though, i’ll try it out along with the garbolino 995. and the senus pole.cheers for the advice
-
15/11/2007 at 12:04 am #67561
AnonymousSaint,i think it will come down to two poles..the gis 10 and the Sensas 664..it’ll be down to which one feels best for you at the end of the day.
-
15/11/2007 at 5:49 pm #67562
TF_thesaintcheers matey
-
15/11/2007 at 6:02 pm #67563
TF_C.S.HParticipantSaint, thinking of buying a Tourny Pro myself.
How did you keep breaking no 4 sections? -
15/11/2007 at 7:33 pm #67564
TF_thesaintC.S.H…I had a nightmare with the 4th section. I dropped two sections together, both snapped in two.
2,The wind blew the section against the leg to my tackle box.
3,Playing in a fish.I am a little heavy handed i suppose, which is why i changed to the tricast, but i do have to say if you look after it, watch what you do with each section and dont just throw it down when playing in a fish or rebaiting, you will not have any problems. It is a great pole for the gentleman, and at the current prices well worth a purchase, just not for me.

TF_skettyHow strong is the gis10 absolute because i am thinkin of buyin 1?????????
-
15/11/2007 at 9:50 pm #67566
TF_thesaintSketty, i am going to try them out Sturday,,i’ll let you know,at £1500 i hope its a good pole, thesaint
-
15/11/2007 at 9:53 pm #67567
TF_skettyi went up fosters yesterday seems like nice pole but i dont wanna buy 1 then realise it ent very strong but have read that it is super strong
-
15/11/2007 at 10:25 pm #67568
TF_thesaintmakes you wonder why they have suddenly come down so much in price.
-
17/11/2007 at 9:46 pm #67569
Anonymous£735 retail for a 13m section for the gis 10,so you will pay in the region of £500!
stay well clear imo.
-
18/11/2007 at 10:12 am #67570
TF_thesaintouch!!!!How on earth can they justisfy that price. I think i need a sponsor…..I have held the pole and it is without doubt good. The £1,500 is within budget,, just the spare sections are far to expensive, i think this is why it has dropped in price, Preston must be banking on making money, and alot of it, on the spares…i’m having a rethink
-
18/11/2007 at 7:03 pm #67571
AnonymousSensas 664..go on,you know it makes sense !
-
19/11/2007 at 6:13 pm #67572
TF_thesaintWoody, i know what you are saying but, its a sensas, i hacve never really rated them. Can you tell me what it is rated to and what sort of price and package i should expect? I have seen a Sensas on the ebay site,,just wondering what they are like? cheers..Andy
-
19/11/2007 at 10:25 pm #67573
AnonymousSaint, clear your mind about what you have thought about previous sensas poles because the 664 is different..i’m not sure what the pole is rated to but as the label ‘powermatch’ suggests,it is a tool that is at home fishing for either carp or silvers..i have laccied mine up with light hollo (preston light blue) to the heavy hollo (preston purple).
the retail price of the pole is around the 2k mark but obviously you will not actually pay that amount.
The pole comes as 16m and it includes 7 top kits and two x spare no4 sections…If i remember correctly the break down of top kits is 3 x match,2 x big fish,2 x competition which is quite a good package.
Go to your local shop and put one up and if you still think they’re no good i’ll eat me hat ! -
19/11/2007 at 10:28 pm #67574
AnonymousOh and the spares will cost no where near what they will for the preston !
-
19/11/2007 at 11:11 pm #67575
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantSaint, I’m the bloke selling the Sensas pole on e-bay. Its a 3684, which are fantastic poles, but not really strong enough for commercials nowadays. If you take the plunge with the 664, which I’m also told are much more suited to match carping, then I’ve also got 3 match top3’s which would fit it and also a No.5 section like new(from a 664), which are going on e-bay this week. Also got a Series 4 Extension, but not sure if this would fit.
Like I say, if you end up getting the Sensas pole, let me know and I could let you have the spares ‘off’ e-bay ? -
19/11/2007 at 11:35 pm #67576
Anonymousandynorth, how much are you looking for,for those match top kits..i may be interested.
-
19/11/2007 at 11:50 pm #67577
TF_andynorth2003Participant£45 each, or all three for £125. Would you be interested in the 17.5m extension?
-
20/11/2007 at 12:39 am #67578
AnonymousAre they the original match top 3’s off the 3684 and are they new or have they been used.
-
20/11/2007 at 8:37 am #67579
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantThey are the original top 3’s off the pole and have been used, but are in ‘as new’ condition. Used the power tops more to be honest.
-
20/11/2007 at 9:37 am #67580
TF_AnthonywatersParticipantHeres something thats interesting i allways believed that pole rrps were just over inflated figures that had no bearing on the cost of a pole a all. In actuall fact the rrp of a pole is the total cost of the pole if you buy all the pieces individually this is how the price of a section is calculated, it always confused me when you can buy an 11 section pole for £800 and to buy the no 6 alone will cost £180, this is why.
-
20/11/2007 at 1:17 pm #67581
Anonymousandynorth,my offer would be £30 per kit, reason being is that i can actually get brand new top kits for the 664 for not much more than you are asking.
-
20/11/2007 at 1:31 pm #67582
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantAll three kits are on e-bay at the moment, with one of the bids already at £30. They end Thursday night. If it looks like they will not sell for what I want, then I’ll remove them. You can have them for £35 each – my best offer!
-
20/11/2007 at 1:32 pm #67583
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantWoody999, I see from one of the other threads that you mention Makins. Are you fishing the Winter league at the moment? If so then I could let you have them at the next one in two weeks time. Save on postage !
-
20/11/2007 at 1:57 pm #67584
Anonymousandynorth, yes mate i am fishing the makins w/l,fishing for Gedling Gold, who you fishing with then ?
If you dont sell the kits on e-bay then i would certainly be interested in having a look at them on the next round.Would probably pay the £35 your asking for if in top nick cos as you say, would save on postage. -
20/11/2007 at 2:05 pm #67585
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantYou boys seem to be doing well! I’m fishing with a bunch of muppets – Rivendell !! How can a team come 2nd overall in the 2nd match and last this weekend ! Muppets ! Give me a call on 07786174553 on the day.
-
20/11/2007 at 2:37 pm #67586
AnonymousNever mind mate, someone’s got to prop the league up..lol..do you know Jovi,if so,he knows me and i’m sure will point me out at the pub if you cant find me.
-
20/11/2007 at 3:15 pm #67587
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantYes I know him, I’ll be sat near him at the draw. Cheers
-
20/11/2007 at 7:16 pm #67588
TF_uncledendraAndy, lookin with intrest at your 3684 i”ve been told this is the same as the 3674 except with better qualty top 3″s is this true? Is it fishable at 17.5m need to fish at this length for long periods
-
20/11/2007 at 7:26 pm #67589
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantIt is from the same mandrel as the 3674, but they used better carbon throughout. The Power kits are the ‘super light’ ones which fit all the Sensas range. One of the best poles I’ve used at 17.5m and as long as you dont need a real carp cruncher, its a top pole.
-
20/11/2007 at 7:38 pm #67590
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantYour welcome to make me an offer for the pole and all the spares listed on e-bay. I’d prefer to sell the lot in one go. Text me on 07786174553 if you want. Dont ring, as the missus will kill me if she knows I’m selling another pole and buying another new one !!
-
20/11/2007 at 7:53 pm #67591
TF_uncledendraWhere does it stand along side a tourny pro? Just sold mine
-
20/11/2007 at 9:02 pm #67592
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantI’ve never held a tourny pro to be honest, so no idea. Sorry
-
21/11/2007 at 5:01 pm #67593
TF_Chum MixerParticipantMy mate’s got a G10 and I use a pro, the difference I’ve found is the pro is crisper at longer lengths than the G10, the G10 is a very strong pole slimmer blank.
-
21/11/2007 at 5:45 pm #67594
TF_paulcarpenteri have a absolute pole and yes the spare section sare a dear but if you treat your poleas you should you should never break it, unless someone walks through it. i have been so proud with my pole that i have brught (well soon i hope) another absolute pole just for back up. i will have another set of top kits plus the pole im getting is a 17.5m one so i should be able to get my pole upto 20.5m ( what a whooper)
i have fished it at 17.5m and it is fishable, that is if you are getting fish every put in. -
21/11/2007 at 6:49 pm #67595
TF_thesaintI have been away for a couple of days..Sensas, i’ll have a look at one..From what you have siad it does look tempting..If i do get one Saturday, and WOODY999 has not brought them i will more than likly have them for 40 each, but that depends on the trial. I will let you know how i’ll get on….
-
21/11/2007 at 7:20 pm #67596
AnonymousSaint, take a look on the coarse thread at Tractorboys post “poles for sale”..he has a brand new Sensas 664 16m for sale at trade price (£1050) although you dont get the new spare top kit package with it,its still a bargain,i think this one comes with 3 top kits and a cupping kit so you could still purchase spare tops and still be quids in.
-
21/11/2007 at 8:00 pm #67597
TF_thesaintcheers woody999, seen it and i have sent e-mail out, pending the trial…thesaint
