TOURNAMENT-TOMcan somebody tell me what advantage parallel no 4s are? i use short 4s and haven’t even heard of parallel 4s until a few weeks ago, why are people using them? cheers

TF_bartezParticipantthey have been brought out for extra reach with out having to add a 17m extension i havent seen one yet so dont no if there better or worse.
-
12/11/2007 at 8:38 pm #67609
TF_freddy the frogi’ve got one it came with my pole, bartez is right.
i,ve not used it,i use power fourth or normal 4th.I think if its used with the butt ext it takes a 16mtr pole to 17.
(i dont know why ive all this kit,i dont fish more than 11 mtrs. well, rarely!very-very rarely!) -
12/11/2007 at 9:25 pm #67610
TOURNAMENT-TOMdo they compromise strength or balance at all though? sounds like a good idea, cheaper than a 17m ext aswell!
-
12/11/2007 at 9:51 pm #67611
billy the squid s.t.aParticipantsounds like a crap idea if its parallel to your other no 4 you won’t get any extra reach at all surely
-
12/11/2007 at 9:57 pm #67612
TOURNAMENT-TOMof course you will, 1m aint they
-
12/11/2007 at 10:26 pm #67613
TF_freddy the frogThe parallel 4th is same length as power 4th.these are appx half the length of a normal 4th.thhe parallel 4th fitsin the butt of the normal 4th or power 4th.so you can have a two piece power fourth or a one and a halve fourth.the parallal 4 is apower section like the short 4th.
This lot then fits on your fifth section.
i havent fished with this section in but have tried it in the set up pole,it doesnt seem to affect the balance or strength.diawa reckon its to get you to an otherwise out of reach feuture,it is a good idea as long asyou remember which is wich, theyre both numbered four.
its very confusing.well i think so. -
12/11/2007 at 10:36 pm #67614
TOURNAMENT-TOMi have been in situations where i have needed to use the long 4 but was afraid of breaking it on big fish, maybe a short 4 and a parallel 4 would be stronger?
-
12/11/2007 at 10:36 pm #67615
TF_freddy the frogadd the length of this parallel and phex butt together and TTs right it gives you a 17 and a bit pole.
-
12/11/2007 at 10:37 pm #67616
TF_freddy the frogyes definately stronger.
-
12/11/2007 at 10:45 pm #67617
TF_freddy the frogon the Tpro normal fourth is the weak link of a brilliant pole, ive got
an airity as well and the fourth is still the same,if your after carp youve got to use a power 4th.yet you only get 1 with it.The 5&6th have alsobeen improved . -
12/11/2007 at 11:19 pm #67618
TOURNAMENT-TOMwhat is the airity like then compared to the pro? is it really worth the extra grand? is the finish on the butts any better? was going to look at the new 12 absolute
-
13/11/2007 at 8:26 am #67619
TF_CutnutBilly your wit is lost on these lot Lol.
…..Parallel as in side by side…..
-
13/11/2007 at 9:07 am #67620
TF_Dave_BSo are these parallel sections worth investing in? If you are using one with a short 4 are you not altering the balance?
AND the big question:
Freddy is the Airity worth the extra grand, no-one has really answered this yet?
As they have improved the 5&6, my head says to replace them on my TP to give the best of both at a cheaper cost.
comments please. -

KingmanI am considering a Spectron M2 which comes with 2 parallel number 4’s but NO spare number 4’s. this is a bad choice for a silver fish pole where you will be fishing deep stillwater and river pegs. More important to have spare top 4’s than a new gimmick in my opinion.

mo-can donever seen Will Riason using anything but the long fours. and he catches a few carp.. tell him there not strong enough.
-
13/11/2007 at 4:41 pm #67623
TF_GaryPlease forgive my cynicism, but could it be that a cheat could use these parallel sections to their advantage? Imagine a venue with a 16m pole limit. Someone could actually be fishing at 17m by adding one of these sections, and it would not be obvious to anyone around them as it is normally the graphics on the butt section that act as the give away.
-
13/11/2007 at 4:46 pm #67624
TF_GaryAlso, incidentally, I use long 4s on my Tourny Pro for all my carping and have yet to break a single one (touch wood)!!!
-
13/11/2007 at 9:50 pm #67625
TOURNAMENT-TOMto be honest i have never used a long 4 for carping, only been tempted when drawing pegs with islands at 16m! i know people that use them for carp, also people who have smashed them to bits on carp, so can only assume that it is down to how individuals use their t-pros
-
13/11/2007 at 9:53 pm #67626
TF_freddy the frogis it worth the extra grand?i think it is,its made on the same mandril as the T pro,G8 conn, and spec mk2,and the top 4 kits are the same but there the similarities end.its made from a higher grade carbon with all the sections finished the same(matt black smooth). The pole feels stronger, as in wall strength, when shipping in/out
your not changing over different finishes.weight and balance wise its no difference. The power and parallel 4ths dont unbalance it,but i find usin the power top kits affect the feel. i still wouldnt use long 4ths for larger carp(10lb & up).ive not broken any yet but there again i,de have to pay £120 for a new one, does Will Raison?.so Dave-B it is a totaly different pole as the T pro is to the G8 connes.

TF_freddy the frogGary; How do we know our poles are 16 metres.i look along the bank and everyones fishing so long, when i look at mine im sure its not as long as theirs, ime going to measure it just out of intrest.

TOURNAMENT-TOMi think there is some underlying issues here, were you two abused with tourney pro’s when you were little boys or something ?
-
14/11/2007 at 6:58 pm #67641
TF_Dave_BThanks for the reply Freddy the frog. The long haired Boss is still saying NO so it may have to wait for a while as 3 grand is hell of a lot to fork out.
But thanks anyway -
