        Time for a new pole.
Been using a Daiwa Whisker for best part of 5 years and its been a good bit of kit. But time for an upgrade.
Thinking of staying with Daiwa so I can use the top kits but the Preston GIS10 thread is food for thought, whats the GIS10 like with heavy elastics.
Fish mainly for carp, max out at purple hydro on elastics and use black hydro for most of the year.
        Loads of choice out their.
        Sensas Power Match 664
        Spectron Power
        Tourny Pro
        Shimano Aspire AX
        all sound good.
        Any advice.

i use a tournament pro and have never broken it and have had carp to 17 lb on match kits with the no 1 taken out, extreemly well balanced, my only criticism is the finish on the butt sections, can get a bit ‘ squeeky ‘ with wet hands but cant fault it apart from that

I’ve got the Speccy power and absolutely love it to bits. used for everything i could think of, and not had a single problem with it.
But i agree with TT above that the finish is iffy on the butt sections when the pole is drying after getting wet, or your hands are damp.Fantastic spares, and the Daiwa generic kits are top drawer also.

                  Cheers for the feedback.

Pretty much made my mind up on the Tourny Pro.
But will the match and power top kits I have for my Whisker fit the Touney Pro?
This will be the deciding factor.

I’ll add my support for the TP, I’ve landed carp to 24lb on mine, I had a split in the No7 section ( noticed the third time I used it) apart from that, no problems. Daiwa replaced the No7 section in a couple of days with no quibble.

I’ve bought extra match kits, power kits and generic top threes, all readily available.

It’s a very strong pole, I’ve used mine with purple hydro & 0.19, but it’s equally at home with lighter elastics and 12oz nooklengths catching roach and skimmers on the canal.

                      Thanks HST Doctor.
Not worried about availabilty of top kits, more of a cost saving excercise if the top kits I have will fit the Tourney Pro.

I’ll throw another spanner in the works CSH!

your top 4’s from the diawa will also fit the Lerc GIS10 – the match/power kits are very slightly oversized but used with a No 4 there is no probs at all – the GIS No 4 section fits the daiwa’s as if it was made for it – also useful for any diawa owners that may want to use some of the Lerc range of topkits such as short stops, puller kits etc.

When I broke a No 6 on my GIS (my fault) – I used an old Daiwa 412 but with GIS top 4’s while I waited for my replacement section – the diawa was a miles better with the Lerc kits on too.

                              Craigo,

Thats rather good news for me too. So the top kits from my Speccy will fit the GIS 2G10 or the 10 Absolute as long as I keep hold of my no 4 section?

                              Interesting thought
