FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 7/6/09

Last week 120 rods caught 242 fish for an average of 2 per rod.

The day ticket water Cocks Close has been a little patchy over the past week with anglers fishing from boats doing better than those on the bank.

The members’ pools have been in good form with Great Pool particularly fishing well at the moment.

The evening time has been best and we are now offering a late evening ticket on Cocks Close which is two fish plus catch and release for £10.00 in the hope more people will take advantage of the prolific evening rises that are occurring at the moment.

The best fish of the week was an 8lb rainbow, which was taken from a boat on Cocks Close by a Mr G Coates of Tamworth, who also took another three fish on a small white Lure.

Paul Fretwell of Atherstone caught five and released a further four fish whilst fishing from a boat on the Great Pool and Paul took all of his fish on a black Buzzer fished on a floating line and his best went 5lb.

Mr B Twyneham of Birmingham also has a 5lb rainbow, this time from Cocks Close and this came to a small Olive Dry fished on the surface which also took a further six fish and were safely returned.

Best patterns are Damsel Nymph, black or olive Buzzer, olive Dries, black Gnat, white Moth, CDC Emergers and Diawl Bach.
