Packington Trout Fishery Form to July 20th

Last week 76 rods caught 129 fish for an average of 1.70 per rod.

The cooler conditions saw an upturn in sport with fish being caught on all of the pools.

Boat fishing has been the best option on Cocks Close with the fish moving out of range from the bank. Alex Kerr of Nuneaton fished from a boat on Cocks Close and took a five fish limit and all of these came to Shipmans Buzzers fished on the surface.

The best fish of the week were two rainbows at 6lb and one was caught by Gary Cooper of Sutton Coldfield who was fishing from a boat on Park Meadow and this came to a black Lure fished on an intermediate line. The other was caught by new member Bill Painter of Hampton-in-Arden who was on the Hall Pool and this fell to a Cats Whisker. Frank Finlan of Birmingham took a five fish limit on his favourite GRHE Nymph and his best fish weighed 3½lb and they were taken whilst on a boat on Cocks Close.

The Day Ticket water will close next Sunday, 26th July and will re-open on Saturday 26th September. There will be a large number of rainbows and browns stocked for the re-opening with many 3 – 5lb fish and a number of doubles planned. The members’ waters will remain open throughout the summer and all are fishing well for the time of year with good evening rises being seen at the moment. Membership is available, please telephone the number below.
