Fish week 334 (season 43,091) returns 129 (11,351) rod average 2.58 (3.79)The best Rainbow of the week fell to P North of Gotham, Notts, who took a 6lb 12oz Rainbow whilst boat fishing. There are rumours of a 10lb Rainbow caught from the bank last week, but we are waiting for details. Richard Cross, of Hallaton, hooked a 9½lb out of season brown whilst bank fishing the peninsula. This was returned safely to the water.
Les Dickenson, a season ticket holder from Oakham, recorded an eight fish limit from a boat last Tuesday. Les found fish off the Sailing Club frontage where he witnessed gulls diving into the water feeding on the fry. Les put his boat in amongst them and caught rainbows up to 3½lb on a sinking line and tube fly.
Prospects look good with plenty of food available with Bream/Roach fry and sticklebacks still on the menu with corixa, snails and small buzzer hatches occurring on settled days.
