Hi folks just wondering if anybody else is having problems with their new Maver mx 3500 box before i contact maver direct .The foam seat on mine has bad memory and the cover looks like its going to split were it meets the wooden base. When i put bits of tackle in the side tray they get stuck behind the edge of the seat covering causing the tray to jam in.The legs on the box want to twist when you put the trolley arms onto them making pushing impossible. And very worrying indeed ,last week whilst landing a fish the telescopic legs folded back into the main leg whilst standing on the footplate. Also box leaned to the side whilst grabing my landing net.All this after the legs had all been tightened up properly.I just hope this a problem with mine and am very dissapointed as ive waited a long time and only used it twice .

        Thanks.~think

If your not happy with it, take it back to where you bought it from and explain why your not happy with it

maver are aware of this problem and have offerd to replace any soft seats. The new shipment will not have this problem . just gige them a call. 01527 406300. By the way i have had my mx3500 for a while now and my legs slipped at first but when i properly tightened mine thy havent given me any problems,my seat was ok too so its not on every box. The foam on the seat was a result of the factory changing the agreed speck , hope this helps!

Thanks very much i will give them a ring today .Im glad your legs have stopped slipping how about your seat does the sidetray catch yours because ive got to use mine for winders now, also how about the trolley arms ? i have a pole support on mine and this does help to brace them but they still twist. cheers ian~clap

if you pull out the tray you will see the seat material needs to be stapled down more ,again a mistake on the agreed spec .Its an easy fix , grab a stapler and push a line of staples along the edge .This will solve the problem. As for the front legs twisting i have a preston tool bar across the front and dont seem to have had this problem. A tool bar is 34.99!

Perhaps Maver should sell a staple gun and a tool bar with all these boxes then

Alternatively they could perhaps increase the RRP on the box and sell something you don’t have to bodge to be able to use it

I suppose it’s Maver so why should we expect anything else ~naughty

It is very rare in this world to buy somthing new and there not be one or two teething problems.I could name many fishing and non fishing items that havnt been great at first but have had thier issues sorted and been a sucess. The apparently flawless windows 7 has had such a problem how but im sure it will be sorted and then be reliable product. So even with the level of brain power at micro soft they do have problems.

The box is a hell of a lot of box for the money , i do wish people would be a little slower to slag off manufactuers and thier produts, epecially when a new product/ concept comes out.You are entitled to your opinion but when you put it in writting it becomes a whole different senareo (not sure of spelling!) eg the preston thread. Come on lads tell us how many good products are out there !

I assume you work for Maver then or your someone who sells Maver products

If I buy a brand new fishing item, I expect it to have been properly tested before release without having to bodge it after

I have bought a few bits of new tackle this year, to name one the shimano 9/11ft pellet wag rod. I haven’t had to whip any new eyes on as the product is still doing the job it was sold for without me having to bodge it to get it to work properly

After all the new Maver box is a blatant copy of the Rive

Perhaps Maver should go into partnership with Preston Immitations for there blatant copies

nothing against Maver- but i thought the whole point of this box was to be an affordable copy of another well-known box?

And? was the other well known box flawless at the start? i dont know, but for the price of the maver in relation to the other there is going to be a difference. THE MAVER IS NOT A RIVE, and its not fair to compare the two . Yes they look similar but so dose the space station.IF maver had wanted to produce a £700 box they would have but the 3500 is a box at a different price point. thats like buying an MR2 car instead of a Ferrari and moaning it dosent go fast enough!!!! rrp mx 3500= 349 rrp rive st 699!

well Browning is a large company but it’s products are, imo, mostly overpriced
and of lesser comparitive quality in performance terms than it’s smaller and mainly cheaper competitors.

Just been e-mailed back by Maver and they say they have had no problems up to now with any of their seats ,side trays, and telescopic legs slipping. Also no problems with trolley arms flexing. They say they cannot inspect every box delivered to them from the factory. However they are going to send me a new seat ,new sidetray and a set of trolley arms as a good will gesture. Hope this helps.~clap ~clap ~clap ~sick

my local tackle shop had a fair few new maver boxs from the whole range.

i checked most of them and 1 had the problem with the mega soft foam.

i wouldnt fancy sitting on that for 5 hours

If the base of the seat is wood you will find that after it gets wet andd dries out the cushion will lift off, Milo had the same problem years ago on the Mille 1100 they changed there seat bases to plastic problem solved.

I must say Maver were very understanding and sent new parts without having to send the old ones back.

No it’s not, I’m afraid, and there are many, many good products out there. The difference between the reviews of this product and actual experience of it are staggering. I’ve seen the box up close – it has been designed to look like a Rive – but that is where the comparison ends. The seat is rubbish IMO – no other way to describe it. Like it was covered in black kitchen roll with crap quishy foam.

The hand wheels are designed to look like Rive ones but work on a different principle. Rive hand wheels pull on the leg, which is why they are so solid and why they need to be so big. Maver ones just tighten up like any other, and from what has been said not very well. Another gimmick.

Also, the box is enormous and very heavy, but has very limited storage, with odd looking bedside table like drawer handles. I could go on, but what’s the point – it really is a heap of junk, in my opinion. Sorry if this offends, but £350 of your hard earned cash is still a lot of money, and I think you can get an awful lot more quality than this for that amount.

I’m surprised that you are now satisfied with it to be frank mannymaggot – Have they sorted the collapsing leg problem? I suppose time will tell. To me it seems that this box is a cynical marketing exercise, designed to catch unwary anglers by making them think they are getting something similar to a Rive – which is widely acknowledged as a premium product – for much less. The similarity is only in looks. I think that this is a very risky strategy, as anglers’ trust in thier brand is crucial to Maver’s continuing success.
