I fished the Snake for the first time in almost 2 years a few weeks ago. I had 59lb for 3rd in the match. I fished paste at 10 and 5 meters from peg 34. I was told that Stu Conroy had caught 26lb on the Saturday so think i did ok from the peg the following day and without any info on how to get the best from the venue. After the match i had a chat with a few of the regulars. They said that they have been targeting the ide in the first 2 hours of the matches, up in the water on caster. Once the ide vanish after normally 2 hours. They have been switching to targeting the carp and F1s with mainly meat, corn or pellet. The belief was that there is up to 30lb of ide to be caught from a lot of pegs. The F1s and carp seem to be feeding in the second half of the matches.

          Hope that helps!

I have been talking to a couple of the regulars and recent winners have used pelet shallow for 30lb of ide and 60-70lb of f1’s or paste on the deck for similar. one other tip was to not feed anything and just tap the water, not constantly, just maybe once a min and keep lifting and droping your rig, with banded pellet shallow. Was also told you really need to draw snake 1, not 2 to do any damage. Good luck.
