          Hi Tony,

          I am no expert on consumer law, but was always of the impression that manufacturers warranties are only valid for the initial purchaser.

          Although your pole is to all purposes ‘new’ the person who bought it off you is buying a second hand pole! Most companies in any business will not transfer warranties, I know this to be true from my time in the mobility product industry where wheelchair warranties were only for the first owner/buyer.

            hi there,
            if i can remember back to my law class;
            should you buy an item and give it as a prezzy, any rights as a purchaser do not get past on with the goods.
            unless you add a note to the gift passing on your rights as purchaser.
            whether it applies to warranties or not, i cannot remember.
            warranties and conditions within a contract a very different things. it is the conditions that are important. warranties are the niceties added eg., the pole being the advertised length (a 14.5m pole should not come at 12.5m) is a condition were as the colour of the grafix is just a warranty.
            i presume you are referring to a guarantee for any breakage. i think that it should be honored if the card issued with the pole is filled in with your name and details.
            hope this helps,
            steve

                I can’t say for Tricast but I bought a car second hand (18mths old) and it still had 18 mths of warranty on it. I found a fault and had it rectified under warranty without a problem can’t see why there’d be any difference.

                  Just box clever and remain the owner of the pole, well on paper anyway then if the new owner has any problems he can deal with them through you.
