i use power carp mustad knotless knot tied to a guru bait band 6lb ultima power plus and boddingtons own floats with 2 drennan float stops either side of the float works a treat for me and to whacking a link swivel on as well will stop line twist a bit and let you change the float~clap

i use 6lb ultima power steel cos its the best line ive come across and ive spent loads of money on loads of lines!!
also i use preston pr36s as i find they are perfect for hair rigging, stay sharp and ive never had one straigten or break and they have landed hugh carp for me! and i use 16s for 6mm pellets and 14 for 8mm with a lasso and a short hair…

for floats i use drennan 4g insert crystal wagglers loaded with about 4 turns of soldier wire with 2 drennan float stops either side, this is for fishing between 4-3ft
if they are shallower i slide the float up the line and slip on a large korum blob which i can then fish upto 6 inch deep (the length of my hooklength) no other float will allow you to fish six inch deep!

Maxima 3lb on the reel,PR27s in size 16s or 18s,.18 fox microplus+ for the hooklengths,Dave Brittain styro wagglers.

I would split my pellet waggler fishing into two catergeries, a refined approach for venues like Viaduct, makins & meadowlands.

Then a beefed up set up for the big fish reservoirs, earlswood & boddingtons.

Refined : 4lb guru line, 0.18 – 0.20mm silstar match team hook lengh, to a drennan carp feeder 16 – 14 hook, with Dave Churchwood styrowags.

Beefed up : 6 – 8lb sensor, 0.20 – 0.22mm silstar match team hook lengh, to a Guru MGW 14 – 12 hook, with John Bonnie wagglers.

As to why, with the silstar line, i have huge confidence in it, have used for years and have no reasons to change, the Guru hooks i find brilliant on big fish, i can lay into fish even foul hookers, with no issues, which is needed on the reservoirs, John Bonnie wagglers, in destructable, perfect for the job and cheap, sensor line cheap and reliable, allows re spooling regulary, as your line can take a battering on the reservoirs.

I use the drake floats up to a 4AAA and anything above the Dave Brittains ones.
As for line i use 4 pound Drag line, N-Gauge for all my hook lengths and the Guru MWG’s in a size 14 to 16.

Line is Mr Crappie or Mullarkey’s own brand or Sundridge Force, dead cheap in bulk spools and ‘no fuss’ line. 3lb is fine for bagging small carp with the odd double. I may move up to 4lb for lots of bigger carp but that’s really only to help the wear of the line on the landing net rim. The thinner the line the more accurate casting will be and the less it is effected by wind.

I use 4lb Mr Crappie but I’m rapidly running out and will probably switch back to 3lb Maxima for smaller fish, (2-6lbs) or 4lb Maxima for fish from 3lb to well into double figures.

I avoid low dia main lines like the plague as they give without warning and don’t take the punishment in the net.

Hook lengths I use either Shakespeare Superteam AML or Sensas Feeling which I also rate highly

Hooks are gamakatsu GP107’s in a 12 for when it’s hard, (they are maore like a standard 16, very fine but exceptionally sharp and strong.

For normal fishing I use Fox Match Series 2’s and for big fish the Fox match Series 2 Xtra Strong.

Float wise I make my own styrofoam wagglers but in the past I have used both Drake and carpa silverback balsas to great effect
