        Hi all

I am fishing a competition here in a week or so, and am fishing it completely blind. Anyone out there have any information on the place? Methods, size of fish, etc. We are fishing Oak and Beech lakes

        Thanks

Last weeks match results might help.

Im not sure about the claims of catching on mussel. However, im sure a few fish could be caught with that bait. I would tend to think either meat, pellets or paste will be the top baits on these lakes.

Google the Highfield fishery to get the full rules and stocking in the lakes. Looks like some interesting lakes and quality fishing!

Thanks for this. I’d heard something about people catchng there on mussel too, but i’ll probbly stick to pellet/paste combo. Website does give a bit of info, but not too much. Might try phoning them.

i can canfirm they are catching on mussel cos a few of my mates go….
straight lead with a full mussel on a big hook
apparently they nearly drag the rod off the rest!

I can also confirm that mussel is catching loads of carp, especially the bigger fish on oak(well into double figures)they love them,Beech is 5 pints of maggot down the side, both lakes have good pegs full of fish and some pegs not so good!like anywhere really.
Oak pegs 12,21,22,35,37,are the most consistent and on Beech pegs 15,16,17,18,19,23,25.
