TF_Serious SamI live over here Mogsa and if you’re looking at just a day fishing then head over to Rookley, this is easily the best fishery on the Island.
You’d fish on the small lake (big lake is hard core carpers lake) and there’s tons of silvers, crucians up and over 3lb, tench and golden tench to 6lb, lots of carp between 8lb and 22lb.
It’s only a small lake at around 3/4 of an acre and you’d want to get there early to get a decent spot but it’s relatively easy fishing, fish the pole at 6M or so or in the margins and you should catch a selection of everything.
Up in the water also for the tench and carp, had a day there myself and fished a small pellet waggler ro the middle just pinging pellets over and had 11 double figure carp up to 18lb and there’s nowhere else on the island you can amass a weight like that 🙂
If you have another day spare then have a look at the Merstone complex which are our local club lakes, you can have a really pleasant days fishing on Kingfisher lake there (need to get a day ticket from Scotties tackle shop newport) not the same size of fish as Rookley but plenty of roach, skimmers, carp etc. you can have a really good day on the pole for a mixed bag or fish method feeder or pellet wag to the island for the carp.
Nettlecombe farm is another place which is three small pools on a farm, it is ridiculously easy fishing though to the point you might find it boring, if you use normal commercial tactics there it’s usually a fish every single put in (average 1 – 2lb) and personally I find it tedious unless fishing there in a match. My kids love it though so if you’re fishing with kids it could be ideal.
There are a few other places but these are the best – if you’re looking to fish every day and needs more locations let me know.
Cheers, Lee

Daddy BParticipantCracking place for a family holiday, there’s loads to do with the kids. You won’t need a very big pellet wag to fish the middle of the small pond at Rookley and you could probably ping micros over the top, LOL !

TF_Serious SamYou can’t use keepnets anywhere I’m afraid.
Ref. bait there’s a tackle shed on site at Rookley that can provide what you need and Tim that works there is a helpful guy and will see you right.
I can’t hand on heart recommend buying bait from Scotties, I’ve bought some that’s ok but have also had some obviously very stale pellets etc. that must have been sitting on the shelves for years :-/
On the island generally the makes of bait you can buy are limited and you may well not find what you want so if you have pellets at home then bring them with you. Most of the match fishermen on the Island buy the majority of their bait mail order from the mainland.

TF_wightangleryou can use a keepnet at IWFAA day ticket waters but no carp or large bream or tench unless in matches.
You used to be able to use a keepnet for silvers at Hale common but not sure if this still the case.
….Mind you, if you want to look at,play around posing with a carp on your mat, weighing it and photo’ing it and waiting for some onlookers from around the other side of the lake to come round and admire, for several minutes -then you’ll probably be fine. -
