Fishing a match on Lake 2 at Monks on Sunday – do any of the locals have a basic plan they’d care to pass-on?

Was going to fish chopped worm and caster at 5m and down the edge and basically try to catch anything that swims to build a weight as a starting point.

From what i hear, at the moment its paste at 5m and down the edge, and a chuck with the method just past the long pole line.

          worm drowner

Keep your worms and caster for down the inside mate. Top it up every 30mins with half a big pot full and wait til last hour. Feed small nugget of micro’s/4mm at 5 metres and fish 6mm expander over the top. Toss pot small nugget or 6 expander after every fish. Pellet wag well worth ago for good size f1’s. Method feeder can be hit and miss sometimes. If u draw an end peg – just fish top two and in front near the end of your keepnet as this is where the barbel sit.
Best of luck. Lake 2 is fishing it’s socks off at the mo

Pellet shallow can work well at this time of the year feeding and fishing 6mm as short as you can get away with.

Ball it at the start if you dare then fish just past the initial feed.

If fishing shallow is not your thing them 6mm or even 8mm hard pellet on the deck can be a good alternative tactic, just feed more less frequently to keep them down.

You can pick up some big carp down the margins so they are worth a look too every so often but don’t waste too long on them if you are not catching.

Thats how I would fish it.

A few of us had a mini match down there today fishing on the spit and I had 248lb, and everybody weighed in over a ton!
