TF_OmmadawnI really enjoyed this years event, it was all very exciting and I thought on the whole the coverage was excellent.
One thing I think may be of interest to many anglers is to watch one of the competitors tackle up; plumb the swim, decide which areas to attack, choice of float, line, hooks, baits etc.
Obviously said angler would have to agree to this and ideally be someone with sufficient big match experience so as not to be phased by the added pressure.
I realise there is no gurantee such an angler will make it to the final but both previous years and this year would suggest it was likely.
The short piece could be shown well after the “all in” and replace one of the somewhat repetative montages during the course of the afternoon.
I’m sure there are technical and logistical considerations to achieve this which may make it unrealistic but I think it would enhance an already excellent production.

TF_Leaky Lloydgood idea mate,, but i cant see it working!!!
if they reveal there set up and game plan and it works,, others will follow suit, not many top clss anglers tell the bloke on the next peg how they are catching,, and when they do its usually a littl white lie!!!
im not convinced, when asked,, they tell the truth now!!
if you think about it, if some of the anglers are mic’d up and they hear an angler say he is catching on worm down the edge,, he’s just given his tactics to all those with an ear peice!!! -

pigslayerimo fisho was crap, and the coverage was rubbish.what will we have next, same amount of fish in each swim, and the winner will be the one with the most fish.the people with influence have turned this into somthing else.why not have one or two flyers on a lake, thats fishing!the only people who want it changing are the top anglers so the angler with less skill has no chance,i bet these same anglers want to make it a small fish match as well.thought fisho was for everyone?

tournament_proPigslayer – I understand where your coming from but if you have a screaming flier it makes it completely crap
Remember Steve Ringer when he won it, it was game over after an hour, probably the most boring final ever.
I think it should be fair, nothing worse than going through all that effort in making the final only to draw a peg you might as well not bother going to like what used to happen on Lucys at Hayfield.
I always believe the best angler deserves to win, not the best peg

SteveSPigslayer I don’t see what point you are driving at here!
Every angler who gets through to the final will be thinking that the fairer the venue is on the day the better chance they have of winning, that is the mind-set you have to have or there is no point turning up.
The fish still have fins and will settle where they feel most comfortable or conditions, i.e wind, dictates on the day, you then have to make the most of it if they happen to settle in front of you.

TF_OmmadawnIt is so annoying to have your original post hijacked! What the hell has anything pigslayer posted and consequently retorts to pigslayer got to do with the topic of the post?
In future please have the decency to open your own thread to vent your disdain and if you are going to comment on someone elses post try and keep it relevant. -

SteveSSorry Ommadawn maybe I should not have replied to pigslayers post but when the comments are about an event you have just taken part in it’s hard not to.
I agree with your original post though, it would make an interesting feature and add to the coverage.

TF_Baby Faced AssassinParticipantOmmadawn, I thought I saw Andy May showing us the tactics that were working at different times during the day…. although this wasn’t the actual angler, it would be unfair for the competitors to start describing what floats and rigs that they are using before and during the competition imo.
Watching float movements and fizzing in competitors pegs would be good though. underwater cameras would be even better but that could only happen on a canal I think where the water is clear.
