TF_MICK THE BOOKIE~hand ~hand ~hand As some of you know,i am allergic to these bloody things, and have nearly died on 3 occassions. Not to long ago i was stung on my hand when shipping back my “Tourney Pro” with yet another fish on,in a match i was winning easily(peg 13 Willinghurst),and i was saved by my dear friend Mr Brian Green(proper tidal boy).Infact after jabbing the needle into my butt,Brian then proceeded in stabbing himself with the Epipen, and to this day he still has the mark to prove it.Incidently he did a grand job and his speed meant that i was not at risk on this occassion.
At the moment i have had great difficulty in fishing anywhere as it appears there are thousands of the buggers everywhere.I have ventured out to see my pals fishing matches, but they have always been surrounded by the buzzing menace, and i have had to be very vigilant and careful.
I thought after such a harsh Winter it would be a good year for myself and other unfortunate sufferers, but i am afraid its been one of the worst. Can anyone enlighten me at all why these bad years occur, and is there a pattern?….bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ~think ~think ~think ~think -

TF_Chris OwenParticipantWas chatting to a guy at the Glebe yesterday, we were both saying about how few wasps there were around this year.
I reckon it must be down to your magnetic personality Mick,
, LOL -

TF_PaddyI cannot answer the question Mick. Last Saturday i witnessed an horrendous wasp attack. The guy had just got there and was setting up in peg 15 at our local club water. no one knew that where the pool meets the bank there was a wasp nest and this guy must have either kicked it, or annoyed the critters enough for them to go into attack mode.
The outcome was 22 wasp stings and going home, before setting up, poor bloke.
Your right though, there does seem alot about. -

TF_PikeyGreenie only rushed over to help cos you shouted that you needed a little prick in your bottom !
I’ve hardly seen a wasp this year – although I did get stung at Willinghurst on Sunday. The first time I’d ever been stung in 50 years.
Apparently there are loads at Sumners Mick

TF_Chris OwenParticipantHaving just read Paddys post, it must be an area thing.

TF_Waveney OneDefinitely less wasps here in Suffolk and Norfolk than last year. A friend of mine works in a cider factory and there are a few wasps about there as you may imagine! He confirms that last year was the worst year ever but this year is not too bad. I put that down to the cold winter.
TBH I have destroyed 2 nests in the garden and had to get the pest control man in to destroy a nest in the loft this year. However if people destroyed the nests as soon as they saw them, there would not be so many wasps about.

TF_DecaffMust have them all in Herts then!
So far this year, have had Four nests in the loft(One still there) whilst my neighbour has had Two. Also had a nest over my kitchen door, which was vacated very quickly as i spotted it early doors & treated quickly.

TF_MICK THE BOOKIETis a weird one this then lads.As stated on here there are places in the Country that have hardly any,yet down “sarf”,Cockney land, there are f****** millions of the bleeders.Herbie and others have phoned and told moi that there are nought down the Glebe,so i might just venture down there for Pikeys Charity match.I darent fish it,cause i would probably ___s it and upset all the riff raff that are going. If they thought i was going to fish it they would all pull out anyway,so best just go and “skyline” the buggers pegs and spoil their chances.Well thats what Herbie and Pikey told me to do anyway.
So fear not gents the guvnor will just come and meet a few of my old mates, and catch up with some of the new faces off this and tother sites….But dont bring any WASPS with you…lol…MTB.
Thanks to all who have posted some relevant stuff on this thread, and a big FRO to all those who have taken the ___s….TAKE CARE ALL.~clap ~clap ~clap ~clap ~clap ~clap -

TF_orexinaMick you want to take a few jam jars full of sweet liquid, like dilute jam with a paper top. Put a hole in the paper so the wasps can get in but not out again. Place them close but not too close around and it will keep any wasps away from you.

TF_swingtipbryive not seen any fishing maybe 1 or 2 all year and think it depends where you go
you do get the odd place that always have them its worth ringing around a few fisherys to see if they have wasps
The unit i work in yesterday i came out with a piece of marble to dry and in front of my face was a swarm about 15 metres by 15 metre i closed the door looked out and the seagulls were going mental at a distance i then ran around to the shutter door tried closeing it but the forklift was in the way i turned the key nothing it was in gear it then started and moved it forward then i closed the shutters then went back to see this massive swarm but they had completely gone~think -

TF_daverobertsI’ve seen very few this year until……
Driving to evesham yesterday one decided to crawl up my trouser leg and sting me whilst still driving. Had to pull an emergency manouvre whilst killing the wasp by grabbing a handfull of my jeans and then once stopped carefully rolling up my trousers to remove the little fecker.
I hate wasps and am petrified by them. The whole incident gave me an adrenaline headache which I can’t shift and i’ve been twitching at the slightest itch on my skin ever since!

TF_MICK THE BOOKIEDave(Roberts)….Thats a terrible thing to happen when your driving.I have had the same proplem on a couple of occasions, and have swerved across the road franticly to stop the car and jump out. However i have been lucky and never been stung thank God.
This brings to mind the theory that some tragic road accidents are caused by this occurence.I also believe that drivers swerving to miss animals and birds are the cause of many unexplained raod accidents, when the unfortunate driver and passengers have been killed.
Apparently due to the hot weather this is also a very bad year for insect bites, and on a personal note,i have been bitten many times in the last few weeks. There is also the threat of a dangerous little bugger called the “Blandford Fly” which is causing bedlam to the “Human Race” at the moment. This is found near running water where it breeds, and it has a liking for our blood. The bite can cause massive proplems, and even fatality to some people,of which i am no doubt included.
So stay vigilant lads and be careful out there on the banks…..Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..MTB.~naughty ~naughty ~naughty ~naughty -
