Picked up some Tulip luncheon meat from Tescos, they are doing 2 for £2.50 in the 340g size.I liked the idea that it comes in a recyclable plastic tub and after punching some hookers, you can pop them back into the resealable tub(a bit like you buy butter in)and keep them on your side tray.Much better idea than sharp edged tins being discarded in the countryside.

          slippery,
do you have a 99p shop near you as they do Plumrose Bacon Grill and Luncheon Meat at the stated price of 99p per tin.
Rinsed in hot water before slicing/punching and you will find it sinks perfectly.
          cheers,
          cormorant.

Looked at that Tulip stuff today, it won’t fit through a meat cutter!

Cut it to fit in the meat cutter and use the off cuts for punched hookers.

Freezing wont make the meat float, well not in my experience anyway, ive been using the Tulip in 1.8kg tins for ages now, easy once you have done it a couple of times to cut down to size to fit the meatcutter.I always have the meat in soak during matches,& always change the water at least once during use depending on the temps, after the match has finished i then rinse the meat off 3 or 4 times then put it in those zip up freezer bags ready for the freezer at home.
