deemanParticipantCheers Alan, pity this isn’t covered as much as other matches, I think apart from the guys associated with the teams I was possibly the only spectator, albeit for a short time. Any idea where Shaun finished?

its not a high profile event to say its an international event deeman, shame really but wit anglers like shaun who only really fish club matches or little knocks ups he knows he can win in i suppose its not appealing to the public really. i wouldnt get no pleasure in watching him fish i know that.

TF_BadanglerParticipantFair play pelletking, what a load of rubbish.
Theres only 3 International events our Celtic home nations enter, Celtic, Europeans and Worlds, theres obviously only 2 for England. Last weeks Celtic cup was fished by World Champs sides with the exception of a couple of lads, and the matches are fished to CIPS rules. These events are highly valueable, how else do team managers give lads like Shaun a stab at International level??(and hes good at what he does by the way), would you have them go straight into a European or World’s??. If you dont like watching the likes of the lesser know anglers you could always go and sit behing the likes of Jamie Masson!!!!. You think if it was a crap event not worthy of recognition so many World Champ anglers would fish it at considerable cost??.
Deeman, it was quiet at the start of Saturdays match (2 day events normally are TBH), but there was quite a few Sunday believe me, it was a great atmosphere buddy.

All I asked was how Shaun had got on in an event that he was lucky enough to be picked to represent his country.
What I didn’t expect was for someone to use it as a platform to launch a personal attack on him and belittle the work that some of these guys put in with little or no sponsorship.
I take it you know Shaun from Meadow View a venue that he wins his fair share of coin from and a venue that requires a 120 mile round trip two or three times a week. He also does very well at Hampton Springs when he fishes there. It’s because he a good angler
It sounds to me that you’re more than a little jealous. Maybe you “should” sit behind him and watch what he does and maybe just maybe you will learn something. I know I have

i aint belittling him i just said i wouldnt enjoy watchin him, fair play to him for doin well when given the chance but am i not allowed an opinoin now. i was just stating that is why its not a well covered event. winning at meadow view aint an achivement thou really is it u cant even blow ur nose without a local sayin “hes cheating” and no one goes coz all the fish caught are foul hooked, that aint skill is it

pelletking(Moderated – Sorry pelletking, i have removed the original paragraph from the original post as it’s blatantly having a pop at someone and the swearing content, so this para qoute goes as well).

TF_dunnoI fished Celtic Cup for Ireland.
None of the 8 Irish Anglers who fished it have fished a European or World Championships. Three of the Welsh and Five of the Scottish Team fished this years World Championships.
For anglers to begrudge an angler who paid his way to fish for his country is bad form.
I know Shaun and have fished Internationally in Ireland, Wales and Scotland with him in recent years. Hes a top bloke and a good angler on all waters. his selection was justified in 2008 when he did exceptionally well on his debut at Magiscroft.
Wales deservidely won the match and Martin Churchill fished a blinder on both days, I was near him and watched him blitz the field.
Well done Wales. They deserved to win and fished exceptionally well but as an Irish angler fishing CIPs matches on a commercial for F1s is a waste of my time and money and I cant see the competition continuing on its current form on commercials.
In Ireland we fish for proper fish which are not akin to “dolly the sheep” and are mutant fish. Where in a World Championships or European Championships will F1s be the main quarry??????????
The Celtic Cup has provided many anglers in my Country an opportunity to fish internationally and develop as anglers. We have embraced this opportunity. I know that Wales use it too to develop anglers and without it the results of all home nations in this years World Championships would be virtually impossible.

Fair play to you Pelletking, what you keep typing makes you sound like a right ball bag~naughty ~naughty ~naughty
You are belittling him, cant you see that. To single one angler out of 21 you must have a problem with him. Infact all of what you’ve been posting would upset most of the lads that fished for their Country’s last week. Shaun is a very good angler, make no bones about it, same as all the other lads that fished, International managers don’t throw monkeys into these events!!!~shh . Shaun is very good at what he does, but you see fit to keep going on about the venues he fishes and how he fishes them…………..Some opinions, especially personal ones, are best kept in your head (And there must be plenty of room up there to do so!!!!).
For your sake i truly hope Shaun doesn’t get wind of this thread~naughty , and when you feel good enough to represent your Country at any level of Angling (rather than running the bank or running your mouth off) come back and feel free to belittle all that enter these events with your rude ill informed clap trap, until then spare us the verbal diarrhea please.~shh
Dunno, fair play the Irish boys where out of their depth to start but soon adapted and showed well on the last day. This was not due to angling ability as your all cracking anglers, its due to the quarry and tactics required to get them. Commys are, as we both know, alien to Ireland, but as you must be aware, F1’s are basically Carisso, a target species all over the continent. Hopefully the event will continue and long may you Irish lads be part of it as you all cracking lads………………..Next year in Scotland you will no doubt have a better event~clap [/align:2w3sko8u][/align:2w3sko8u]

deemanParticipantCould a moderator please delete this thread.
All I asked for for a little info on how a friend had faired and it is fast turning into a slanging match, with veiled accusations of cheating

I would let it run Deeman, Shaun is as straight as they come and has nothing to hide, you know that. The only thing hiding should be Pelletking after his shameful remarks, this might teach him to keep personal attacks in his head rather than sharing them from behind the safety of his computer screen~shh ~shh

garydParticipantI fished beside Shaun on the first day and got a right battering. He fished really well to win the section. It was my first time to meet him and hes a sound bloke. The second day he finished third in his section I think two fish would have won the section for him.

TF_PaddyThread deletion is the last thing any one wants really, but, if this gets any more personel – it will go.
There is no need for the personal attacks and swearing, so please leave it out.
I’ll keep my eye on it and ask the other mods to as well.
