New way of choosing World Club Champs representative…

  Used to be the Division One winner… but that never worked because we’ve only won it once (Essex on the Arno I think…)
  
  Maybe this is a better idea? I’m still mulling it over….

  Evesham to host World Club Champs Qualifier
  
  The new Preston Innovations Classic, a 10-team event organised by the Angling Trust (AT) to decide which team will represent England in the World Club Championship next year, will take place over the weekend of September 25th and 26th on the Warwickshire Avon at Evesham.
  
  The competition, with bloodworm and joker allowed, will see the top 10 Division One National teams competing for four hours over both days and Dick Clegg, the ATâ€™s International Events Director, said: â€œThis will be a real test for the 10 teams of six anglers involved and I expect it to be a interesting and challenging two days.
  
  â€œWhichever team wins through to represent England next year will fully deserve to be there, as every member of the team will have to perform to his or her peak in order to get through.â€

  I can see merit in the idea but what if one of the teams that finished 8th , 9th or 10th are Avon experts and win the event to qualify but are far worse than the teams that have represented us in the past and at least won something to qualify.

  In the past part of the prize of winning the division 1 national was to fish the world team championships.
  
  Teams like Liverpool+District Angling Association (LDAA) who have won the division 1 national in the past on home water would have little or no chance of fishing the world team championships if they had to fish in effect a second qualifier. Daiwa Dorking as a 6 man team on B+J venues would be almost unbeatable!
  
  Even Drennan NW would struggle to beat Dorking if it was a 6 man team qualifier on specifically a B+J venue! Why not go one stage further and add, down South!
