Di fish feed better shallow when the weather has a low pressure rather than a hign pressure?.
I take it warm weather and overcast is also better.

Temps have very little to do with it Dave. I,ve caught shallow regularly in freezing cold conditions in the middle of winter. Its much more difficult to catch shallow when we get a long period of low pressure even when its sunny and warm. However, if you have lots of feeding fish in your swim usually in summer. Then the fish will come up in the water and feed because they are willing to compete against each other for food.

I heard someone speaking once about dissolved oxygen (DO) levels at different depths of water. I can’t remember what was what, but something like…..If there is no DO on the ‘deck’ and it is like 80% in the up layers of the water then fish will not feed freely on the bottom and will feed up in the water where there is more oxygen. It could be the other way around!!!

Its something like that anyway….If anyone could explain it to me again I would appreciate it as it sounded quite interesting.

Cant understand why High pressure on the waters surface would bring the fish up in the water. Understand about being lots of fish competing for feed etc.

                    Hope Giles can explain.

High pressure will increase the weight of the air (force pushing down) on the water, therefore the less water over the fish the more comfortable they’ll feel! Hence they come up or move into shallower water.

Makes sense to my mind anyway.
