method set up??

  Hi,just started fishing the method in matches, i know how to do the knotless hairig but unsure of the best way to attach the feeder to the main line or the hooklength.
  Im also unsure weather to use 0.18 gline or 5lb maxima for the hooklength??

  Disco, I’ve been away from the scene for a bit but I’ve always found if you ask for venue specific advice people are always willing to help.
  
  Where do you fish and what size fish are you catching?
  
  Is it a fixed or inline method?
  
  What bait are you using?
  
  TBH you can catch on a bare hook! I mentioned this to Nige Harrhy a couple of years back and it’s now one of his party tricks at Barston! lol
  
  I’ve found that using three different sized hooklengths tends to pay off. From 1.5″ to 4″ and vary it and you’ll find that one will out fish the others.
  
  If there are a lot of fish then regular casting can pay off but if you are fishing for one fish then leave it in a while, especially if you are at distance or fishing into open water where you can’t guarantee accuracy.

  apologies out of the frame iv been away from pc for a few days.
  I fish “commercials” in Scotland. Fish up to 8lb average fish 2-5lb.
  bait mostly pellet/corn, odd worm
  Havnt fished it enough to make a decision on fixed/inilne/elasticated,any thoughts?

  I think you get less hook pulls with elasticated feeders but obviously it pays to make sure that you re tie them regularly and that hollow elastics appear to be more robust than solid and retain their strength even when showing signs of perishing.
  
  How big a chuck have you got and are you fishing to features?
  
  The softer the rod the better for getting fish in nearer to you and quicker but you don’t need to think about that if the winning weights are relatively low. What will get you in the frame?
  
  Can you fish braid hooklengths? They seem to be sucked in easier than nylon and seem to me to be better with ‘hooked’ rather than ‘haired’ baits.
  
  Which venues are you fishing?

  baitwise I think you can’t go wrong with using damped pellet but use a variety of sizes as it means you can vary your baits too. Far easier to prepare than groundbait imho.

  max chuck is 40yds normally to a far bank.
  To frame IRO 30-40lbs
  8mm hard pre drilled pellet on hair rig,prob is you cant feed them!
  
  Braid hair rig is a very interesting idea! I’ll need to get my nutty proffesor wig out and try a few experiments in my garage to see if it works

  disco: Big baits can avoid small fish but they also don’t get hoovered up by a fish feeding above your method.
  
  I’ve never fished any of those waters but the weights required are fairly modest and chuck etc sounds a little like the New Pools at Cudmore where you’d chuck to the peg opposite.
  
  Perhaps a Cudmore regular could offer some advice?
