Fish week 380 (season 26,629) Returns 152(7,184) Rod average 2.5(3.7)
The weather for the coming week looks settled and prospects look good for some superb September sport. The last full week of August saw boat anglers catching fish in the main basin, middle of the South arm and at the top of the North arm. Rutland Water plays host to the Lexus European Team Final at the end of this week with heavy demand for boats. Boats are fully booked from Thursday 2nd to Saturday 4th September, with limited availability on Wednesday 1st. Please phone the fishing lodge on 01780 686441 to check for availability. The best fish of the week fell to Ridlington angler Mick Bennett who secured a 5lb 11oz Brown along with seven Rainbows for a very satisfying limit. Mick fished with Adi Naylor of Uppingham who also recorded an eight fish limit made up of Rainbows all over 2lb, with the best at 3lb 2oz. The majority of fish caught from the main basin have been stock fish. Anglers fishing down the arms have been rewarded with quality, grown on, over wintered fish with dry fly, in particular, working well.
The recent steady North/North East winds have given bank anglers the opportunity to fish the North shore and fish were caught around Stockie Bay last Thursday despite pouring rain all day. Fish were also moving off the dam very close in, but few anglers were there to grab the opportunity.
With more settled weather forecast for the coming week prospects look good with fish still feeding on daphnia, corixa, various buzzers and with a noticeable increase of fry and stickleback showing in stomach contents.
Best Rainbow 4lb taken by Hywel Lewis of Sale.
Best Brown 5lb 11oz taken by Mick Bennett of Ridlington, Oakham.
Best boat areas The main basin, middle of the South arm, top of the North arm.
Best bank areas Stockie Bay, Sykes Lane, bottom of the North arm.

Fish week 756 (21,916) Returns 156(4,837) Rod average 4.84 (4.53)
Anglers have enjoyed another good week at Grafham Water with the fish all in the top two feet of water. Fish have now moved from the West end of the lake and are out in the middle towards the main bowl and the Dam area.
With the slightly cooler weather the bank fishing has started to pick up. Plummers and the Seat are the main areas along with G Buoy Point. The fish that are in the margins are feeding on mainly corixa or shrimp which has multiplied in the last week around the weed beds. These are slowly coming into range now that the water level is dropping, The boat anglers are enjoying sport out i
