Got a match on a local water at the weekend,
Not fished it during the day for a while but have fished the evening matches whwre i have been catching well on meat and hemp at six meters.
Our match coming up is in the daytime 11-4 and have been told that meat and hemp does not work in the day matches.
        Why??

I would give it a try and find out!

I guess there are a couple of reasons why it might not work during the day but it would work during the evening. Sometimes the fish will move closer in after ‘normal match hours’ if they are accustomed to mopping up anglers’ surplus bait after a match. Sometimes the bigger fish will only feed during an evening as the light fades. Definitely give it a try and find out though!

Think somebody is trying to throw you off!

Maybe you’ll have to fish a line a bit further out as fish tend to move in later but there is no reason why it won’t work. Best to fish to your strengths!

definatley tryin to put u off doing it!

Stick to what you are confident at!!

What sort of depth have you got?

many anglers make the mistake of fishing too far because they have the pole!

Iv framed alot this season 15 out of 20 matches and my best weights have come at 7 meters out and top 2 eather side!!

So just do what you are comfortable in doing and im sure you will be fine!

Always remember though that you can assume you will only catch about 1/3rd in a match of what you catch when pleasure fishing.

So if you think the match will be won with 80lb and you normally catch 90lb in a pleasure session don’t think that you will walk it! You will probably end up around 30lb. Not always but often enough to give you a clue as to whether or not you are in with a chance. Just try to find out what weight normally wins the match.
