As long as you dont get stuff designed for fishing you cant go far wrong. Some great sking stuff about well cheap at the moment, wife got me a quality fat face coat and trousers for #30 at a recent warehouse sale. If they were a fishing brand you would be looking at #300. but if you want top notch go for sailing water proofs I have a Gul coat that is something else, not only has it never let water in, the cuffs are superb, and the material is streachy as hell, that was about a #100 a few years ago.

I use the Daiwa black Tournament Gortex pole jacket and it is excellent. Feels very comfy whilst pole fishing and its waterproof properties are second to none.

Protak of course originally designed their waterproofs for the sailing market.

I had the Preston stuff a few years ago and ended up throwing it in the bin. I’m not sure if they have improved it (it can’t be any worse) but after that experience I wouldn’t touch it again. Had the same experience with some Shimano stuff which was great for the first few outings then let me down badly.
I will only use Gortex now although the Protak stuff gets good feedback.

It was Preston stuff that finished me with fishing tackle manufacturers gear.
