On Tight Lines this week Keith is joined in the bothy by a match angler respected all around the World, Tom Pickering. Tom made his name on rivers such as the Trent and earned the title of ‘Bionic Bleaker’ when he was winning with massive weights of tiny fish. Tom was World Champion in 1989 and represented his country many times. He’s also been UK Individual Champion, has National medals to his name and is still as fierce a competitor as he was when he drew his first peg. There’s no doubt the two of them will have plenty to chat about and tackle and tactics to discuss, including the tragic loss to angling of former NFA president David Bird.

Andy May takes us back to Arena Lake at Cudmore Fishery in an attempt to show us how this year’s Fish’O’Mania event was won. Neil McKinnon pipped Tom Pickering to the title ‘fishing shallow’, and resident expert Andy demonstrates the method, and shares his tips and advice to get the most out of your swim.

We join Keith for a glorious day’s fishing at the Royalty Fishery on the fantastic Hampshire Avon. Keith dons his waders and polarised glasses on a barbel hunt in, what to anglers, is probably the most famous swim on the most famous river in England.

Keith will also have his weekly look at the sport available to all anglers around the UK. Fishery Focus will have essential information on conditions, venues, and the most effective methods and baits to use.

Next week carp angler and artist Gareth ‘Gaz’ Fareham will be on the show. As a schoolteacher by profession, Gaz has the talent of explaining what he does and why he does it to perfection and we’re all really looking forward to his debut in the bothy.
