I fished with the Harrow postal lads today at tylers common on Ash lake, although I have visited tylers before and fished both the horseshoe and willow lakes it was my first time on Ash, John Brennan had practised earlier in the week and done well fishing floaters and a paste rig, however my hand went in the draw bag and I drew peg no 23, when I got to my peg the wind was blowing left to right quite strong and i started to set up my gear, I must admit I only took my new beastmaster margin pole to the venue as I had not used it as yet, anyway I set up a few kits one shallow for UPW and a couple just with line for the floaters and a paste rig, I plumbed up on the inside and had around 6inches of water out at around five metres it went to around 3 foot but continually sloped away into deeper and deeper water, anyway i started feeding floaters to my left but as soon as i fed a few they were blown down to my right by a tree, a few carp started to feed down by the tree and I managed a few early fish continually feeding to my left I was able to get the odd fish by fishing to the tree to my right however they didn’t seem to want to come out from under the branches, however I pursurveered and eventually had carp swirling to my left as well by picking off fish hear and there I was able to knock out 296 lb 8oz for a lake win, the majority of the fish were caught around a foot from the near bank with a top four sometimes just the power kit, mugging the odd bigger pair of lips obviously sorted out a few better samples, i think I fed around 6 pints of 4mm expanders and used single 4mm double 4mm and the same with 6mm expanders on the hook, gutted that I didn’t make the 300lb as I missed one of my nets with a fish of around 6lb tipped straight back into the drink Doh, well pleased with the win and what a good way to chrisen my margin pole, well pleased.

redarmy long time no see, What line did I use ?is there any other better than ULTIMA i have yet to find any! lol, chatting to the venue manager i found out the catch record for the lake in matches is 350lb which I think is well beatable, the conditions were pretty grim on the day and with hindsight I could have got closer to the target, however in good conditions providing the carp feed well, the match record could well be obliterated, colin horwood next peg had 240lb and there were maybe five or six lads over the double ton, in fact i think the lowest weight was around 50lb, I’ll confirm more when I see the full result. One things for sure the fishery is solid.

hi Chris power match mate, not bad for an old un!!!

Dave the fishery would suit you to a tee as the paste works really well on the fishery.
