Fish week 1,480 (season 31,302) Returns 358 (8,424) Rod average 4.13(3.71)
Rutland Water is in good form with high numbers of fish caught with large specimens of Brown and Rainbow coming to the net.Holiday angler Kevin Walmsley from the Isle of Man had a very enjoyable visit taking both the best Rainbow and the best Brown of the week. Kevin recorded a 6lb 8oz Rainbow on Sunday having taken a 5lb10oz Brown on Friday (the first day of his holiday). Along with these fish Kevin also had Browns weighing 4lb 14oz and 4lb 10oz and another impressive Rainbow of 5lb 4oz. Kevin stuck to floating fry throughout the three day trip, fishing both the north and the south arms. Other members of Kevin’s holiday group reported quality rainbows with many around the 3lb mark.
Another notable fish taken last week was a 6lb 1½oz Rainbow landed by Gordon Bloodworth from the south arm. Several anglers have reported fish showing in the 3-4lb range, including quite a few Browns.
Prospects look very, very good. Hopefully last week’s weather is behind us, this saw strong winds colouring up areas that had been producing well. High winds prevented some boats going out on Friday and Sunday. Settled conditions will see things improve with the added bonus of the bigger fish in the reservoir starting to show off the bank and boat.
Rutland Water will be hosting the Anglian Water Airflo International final next week. Please note that very few boats will be available after Friday 1 October with all boats booked Monday 4 October to Wednesday 6 October.

Rutland Water
Fish week 1,128(season 29,822) Returns 414 (8,066) Rod average 2.72 (3.69)
Rutland Water has been in excellent form with plenty of fish caught from many areas of the reservoir. Boat anglers have caught from the top of the North Arm, the main basin, Old Hall and the bottom of the south.
Bank anglers are getting among the fish with fish feeding close in on corixa and fry. Both bank and boat anglers are taking a good number of fish in the 3-4lb category.
The best recorded bag last week was taken by Dave Porter of Edith Weston and Mick Lacey of Anstey, Leicsestershire. The pair had 14 fish for over 40lb, taken mainly in the South Arm. The best fish in the boat was a 4lb 11oz Rainbow caught by Mick.
Season ticket holder Peter Davis recorded the best Rainbow at 5lb 2oz. Peter took this fish on a fry pattern in Old Hall Bay. The best Brown of the week, at 4lb 6oz, fell to Matt Gregory of Oakham, who also netted a 4lb 4oz fish in the space of a few days.
Willie Wilson and Alan Smith, visiting from Scotland, had an excellent start to their holiday with superb Rainbows whilst fishing fry patterns from the boat. Alan took a good Brown around 4½ – 5½lb.
Bank anglers are recording fish from both sides of the peninsula with Rainbows and Browns up to 4lb plus taken.
