TF_Leaky Lloydive been using preston hollo elasics for quite some time now,
especialy 9h 11h and 13h,
i’ve become quite comfortable with it in that i know exactly what its capabilities are,,,
but one thing it suffers really badly from is corrosion around the connector and on the joint of the top 2,
with this in mind,, im thinking of trying something new this time around,,!
any ideas as to what works similarly to preston hollo’s,, especialy the said sizes?ps,, not hydro’s,, been there,,done that,,good,, but not worth the money IMHO!

TF_dirkdigglerdoubled up preston is absolutely great.
it’s a lot cheaper than hollo or hydro, soft on the strike and powers up if you hook a bigger fish.
also it feels lighter in your topkits too. -

TF_GavinWhen you say on the joint of the top 2, do you mean in transit when the tops are folded? Not something I’ve had a problem with, and I’ve used it since it came out in’04! I always use doobry’s when the tops are folded mind!
I just use a crowsfoot and don’t find it wears excessivly; hydro is the only thing I’ve used that lasts longer. I just re-tie the crowsfoot! Use a winder-bung mind, not used the pull-bung tops much yet. Personally, I think if you like it, changing for the sake of it may well prove to be a bad move!

think i might give the preston double a go,,
cant help but think ill stick to the hollo in the long run though,, just really comfortable with it!!! -

TF_PikeyI can’t see how people say Hydro is expensive – Yes the initial outlay is £15 but it lasts forever. I’ve still got black hydro in one top kit and it’s been in there with no sign of wear since it first came out ! That’s probably over 10 years.

Do you treat it with anything?- I put it in a top kit and 3 months later it is perished around the connector.

TF_PikeyNo, of course I haven’t used it but it’s still like new !
I have 4 black hydro kits and 1 purple, plus 3 red in my edge pole and have never had to change them cos they are worn – and yes I do catch the occasional carp.
