Last week 119 rods caught 284 fish for an average of 2.38.
The best fish of the week was 14lb 5oz and caught by Steve Prentice of Birmingham who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and took it on a black Tadpole fished on an intermediate line and was the best of an eight fish catch. Jake Froggatt of Birmingham also fished from a boat on Cocks Close and took an 8lb 4oz rainbow which fell to a Montana Nymph. Roger Inman of Birmingham returned rainbows of 7lb and 6lb from a boat on Cocks Close and these came to a Cats Whisker Lure.
On the Great Pool, Mike Ravenscroft of Kenilworth had a 5lb rainbow which was the best of an eight fish catch and these fell to various Tadpoles fished on sinking lines. Peter Kelly had a 5lb 8oz rainbow from a boat on Park Meadow pool which was caught on a Cats Whisker Lure.
All of the pools are now fishing well with Lures fished on intermediate or sinking lines becoming the favoured method. Cats Whisker, black or white Nomads, Minkies, black Tadpoles, Damsel Nymph and Viva are the top patterns at the moment.
The high bank and around the middle willows have been the hotspots on Cocks Close. On the Great Pool, the shallow water to the left of the boat jetty is best. Park Meadow is fishing well around the margins and Hall Pool is better towards the dam end.

Packington Somers Trout fishery to October 25th, 2010
Last week 117 rods caught 264 fish for an average of 2.26.
The much colder weather has knocked back rod numbers but most anglers caught with the bank fishing improving as the week went on. The high bank and old boat jetty corner of Cocks Close were the best areas but fish were caught all around Cocks Close. Intermediate lines with Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymph, black Tadpole, Minkie, Viva and Appetizer were the best tactics.
The best fish of the week was an estimated 10lb + caught by Tony Plummer of Kenilworth who was fishing from a boat on the Great Pool. This fell to a small white Lure fished on an intermediate line and was the best of an eight fish catch. Mr A Bowen of Birmingham took the best fish from Cocks Close which weighed in at 7lb 12oz and this fell to a Damsel Nymph on a floating line. Ray Inman of Birmingham had a 7lb 8oz rainbow and returned one at 5lb whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and these all came to a Damsel Nymph.
Ex fishery bailiff Jim Freeman won the Autumn Open on Saturday, catching eight fish on his own tied blue Damsel Nymph. Mark Sturgess of Nuneaton was narrowly pipped on weight after also catching eight fish on Cats Whisker and black Tadpole.

Last week 136 rods caught 298 fish for an average of 2.19.
It was a good week for big fish with a few doubles being caught. The best fish of the week was a 17lb 8oz rainbow caught by Luke Froggatt of Birmingham and this was taken from a boat on Cocks Close and it fell to a Damsel Nymph on a floating line.
Mr P Smith of Solihull had a 13lb 10oz, again from Cocks close and this one came to a Hares Ear Nymph on a floating lineSteven Featherstone of Solihull fished from a boat on Park Meadow pool and he caught an 11lb 7oz rainbow on an olive Damsel which was fished on a floating line from a boat. The Great Pool has now cleared and has started to fish better as Mr T Ward of Leicester proved taking a five fish limit with the best weighing in at 7lb 1oz and these all came to an olive Booby.
On Cocks Close, the best areas have been the wires bank and the high bank. The Great Pool is fishing best in the shallow water to the left of the boat jetty and Park Meadow is fishing better around the margins particu
