On sunday myself, Potty (Rob Pottinger) John and Sean Brennan enterred into the colin ambrose teams of four match onthe river colne, now the day went well me and potty won our sections of 14, potty with a superb net of punch roach 10 lb odd and not a fish over 5ounces me with two chub and 3 micro perch for 9lb 10 oz’s John Brennan had a 5lb 2oz chub for 4th in section and Sean fought a rear guard action in a tough area for some decent back up points, we won the day on weight advantage tying with Steve Hardy’s mob so having picked up the team payout second and 3rd overall pools and section pools we split the money between the team walking out to the car having well over a ton in cash each in our pockets, I said to potty I had really enjoyed the event and the buzz and winning the team event was enough I would have just settled for the plaques, he was aghast and said your joking, obviously potty likes the dosh where as although it’s nice to pick up a good days fishing is more important to me!

Glory first but the money is always nice. Don’t forget though some people will use that to supplement there wages and in todays current climate it’s can be quite handy.

I would take BOTH with open arms. We all have the more not so good days than the glory days so when they do come along always try to enjoy them …… that is what makes our sport so great imho , plus the dosh is always nice ! lol

Much as the money is nice, outside the heavily sponsored guys, how many of us really cover their costs? Most of us do it for the fun, the craic and the mickey taking/bragging rights. I had my biggest pick up ever on saturday but I’d have given half of it for one more Bream.
