You could try a method feeder at distance with pellet/white boilie. If nothing after an hour try an ordinary groundbait feeder closer in say 40 yards with red maggott for decent skimmers.

If its anything like the last time i went this time of year….Stick to the Method.Keep recasting to get a bed of bait down(Red maggot or hair rigged corn).Keep on it,they will turn up.
What you must do is tie your rod to the box,and your box to your leg…..The bites are really timid….Massive lol.

Well Henchy, you asked for advise, how did you do?

I was also there today, 151LB won on the sinking bagging waggler (again, told you it was winning!)
2nd was 136 on the spodocopter, and 125 3rd on the method. I won my section with 111 LB also on the sinking bagging waggler.

we had pegs 18 to 42.

216lb won our match on the spodocopter at 90 yards from peg 18.

2nd was 76lb from peg 20 and just got worse as you went along, the baliff there told us our match was pegged out completly wrong and should of all been closer to the dam wall.

its like the bagging wag but instead of the bagging wag you use a spod with your hooklength attahced to the swivel. you can get alot more bait out at one time.

Would you use braid on the reel for the spodcopter,or a strong mono? Also would you load it with groundbait or soaked pellets or both?
I have a match coming up at Clattercote at the end of oct. I have used the sinking bagging wag before but this excites me….

the bloke who won our match practiced at drayton the week before he had 46 fish there for around 450lb on the same method.

he used a daiwa infinity carp rod 1.75 test curve with a big carp reel not sure which one. loaded with 20lb line. then some rubber tubeing with a swivel over the rubber tubeing and the spod connected to that, your tackle has to be upto the job cause it takes a hammering with all the weight from a full spod, then a quick change bead tied to end of the mainline with 0.24 hooklength.

he vaired the depth all day though sometimes was catching at 3 foot other times 10 foot.

he used fishmeal ground full with tracix to create a massive cloud in the water.

think he used half and half mixed pellet and groundbait in the spod.
