Is it just me or was the pegging on Phase 1 of the Makins Winter League today just a little bit odd.

Lake 2 pegs A2 and B2 out on their own and then A10 and B10 onwards left a lot of open water at the end of the Lake with all the fish following the prevailing wind.
Then Lake 5 started at peg 5 leaving the island pegs and the top corner (again rammed with fish following the wind unfished).
Apparantly Lake 4 had only four anglers from 1 to 13.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not complaining. Just a little confused.

The league was pegged for 11 teams, the problem was only 9 turned up which left some big gaps. We also fished a man short which was A6. I would expect Andy will alter the pegging to cater for 9 teams before the next round.

            Thanks Carpmagic. Understood.
Should be plenty of room in a couple of weeks! Shame we have lost so many teams.

How did you do? I drew 16 on Lake 5. Apparantly solid on the reed bed – somebody should have told the fish that.
Had four for 26 10 down the right hand margin in the last hour. Biteless before that. Must have been the only flat calm peg on phase 1.

I was on paddock 22 and benefited from the missing teams with plenty of room on our bank. I had 48lb for second in section and second on zone.

CSH – you was next to me then – I was on peg 14 on Lake 5

Snooty Fox, that’s right. You had a good day with that run of late fish down the edge to add to the ones earlier on the tip.

I keep going over what I did wrong. Couple of guys said I should have fished the method as far as I could and tight to the reed beds-not convinced.
Sometimes it makes no sense at all when they prefer to be on bare bank down the edge rather than next to the obvious features.
Would have been different with a North Westerly blowing into my corner, definately, well perhaps, maybe, not at all!

They’re right about the method. it’ll get harder as it gets colder, but it has worked on that peg before. I’ve also seen fish caught from opposite you chucking back to that end bank

Hi C.S.H. I was on Lake 5 yesterday, on peg 24. Spoke to you in the car park before the match. I can,t understand the pegging as well. Wait till it gets really hard. Did it rain yesterday???
