If you don’t need a baitrunner type have a look at these – http://www.daiwasports.co.uk/products/specialist/reels/671/5/tournament-ss2600-whisker

Got one recently and am well happy with it.

A daiwa 3012 or 4000 sized shimano should cope with any chuck required at barston!
(i use a TD-R with 6lb sensor) and that includes the island from the car park side!

Shimano Ultegra 5500XSB, I have one but I don’t think it gains you much & it takes some getting used to.

A 4000 sized Shimano wont cut it for long distance work. If you are getting those distances with a 4000, you could be going another 20 yards plus with a big baitrunner or mini pit reel. Trust me i gone about this methodically.

                      Try a Daiwa Procaster X 4000.

I use them for all my feeder fishing and that can involve chucking anything up to 100+ yards.

I’ve tried pit reels but never found they give anymore distance.

Trouble is at the venues mentioned you’d be cheating by casting past the middle!~naughty

i dont doubt that for one minute Kevin, but the original queston was for Barston chucks and with the right set-up with 4000 sized reel, the islands etc are doable at Barston.
