What hooks do you use for Silvers on commercials when things get hard in the Winter.

I’m looking for patterns to fish caster shallow, chop and caster on the deck and when it gets really hard pinkie.

Main species is Roach and Skimmers, but there is a good head of big old Billies up to 3lb and averaging a pound and a half. Last thing you can afford to do is bump these bonus fish.

Kamasan 510 or 611B. 808’s, Daiwa black gammas or Mustad canal seed barbless.

Drennan Silverfish Maggot. A superb, crystal bend hook available loose and pre-tied. Medium/fine wire but deceptively strong.

For silvers with a good chance of bonus fish I am currently using a Tubertini 808 in an 16 or 18 on 0.14-0.10. If there is less chance of bonus fish and more smaller silvers then I will drop down to a Kammy B611 barbless in an 18-22 on 0.10-0.08. For chopped worm and caster fishing for bonus fish though I dont think you can go wrong with a red Drennan Carp Maggot hook.

I’d take a look at the gamma black, is a great hook, really really sharp, nice bend, not springy, and will easily land you a three pound perch long as you’re tackle is balanced.

Kamazan B511 or if you looking a stronger hook then a Tubertini 808.

                        Thanks for the input.~clap ~clap

After visiting a few websites and looking at some new patterns I ‘ve decided to run with Gamma Black and Tubertini 808’s.

I’ll let you know how I get on with these in practise sessions.
