I read somewhere it was Ian Didcote. Afraid I don’t know any more than that though.

Ian diddy won with 48lb all good skimmers (twice in 3 years). peg 5 lawns. des 2nd 36lb peg 6 lawns, giles 3rd 34lb peg 34 (cracking roach).

As for me well…… 27lb and 12 carp later from peg 32…. tony next door on peg 30 hooked 14. vermin.

great weekend though, you cant beat 50 odd lb of silvers in 2 days, just lovely fishing

Sounds great, and well done Diddy again.
Good to see peg 9 didn’t dominate again.

Did you have roach over there Andy? Usually big skimmers long in the 30’s.

I had a few good ones steve, giles fed alot more castor than me and caught some awesome roach. i fished for skimmers and whilst i caught a few the big ones wouldnt settle as the carp muscled in. I just couldnt feed enough to get them there as every time i did it was carp carp carp. caught lots of small ‘porth skimmers’ and some cruies. tony was even hooking them short! shame but still a lovely weekend. not many carp on the lawns. I think des hooked the most with 4. those big skimmers therefore showed in numbers there.

What a brilliant venue..I caught mostly on worm and caster.. However, the carp loved the stuff.. Caster shallow was even better.. I had another 5 carp on that. It begs the question as to whether silver fish matches should be held on venues with such a large head of carp. I think I hooked about 11. Tony Troth had 14. Perhaps we should be able to count them.. even if it is only based on a percentage of their weight. Or better still devote one lake purely to silvers. Stafford moor is brilliant but it makes for a frustrating match when your rigs are being stretched to capacity.

It is a great fishery, I have been on the last four Silver Maniac weekends and enjoyed them all. This was the only one in my experience where the carp fed with a vengance. In previous years I only remember the odd carp making an appearance. Probably just down to the mild weather.
Well done Diddy, great result beating Des of the next peg and winning the event twice in its short history!

It’s not usually that bad Giles, I suspect it was because it has been warmer this Autumn compared to previous years.
How about Diddy drawing the lawns on both days? Got a good head start on the others by knowing exactly how it had fished the day before.
Spoke to him last night, he’s over the moon with the last few weeks he’s had.
