Tried a Sensas 774 the other week and fell for it – it just felt right. Posted on here earlier in the week asking everyone for their opinions, the 774 got some really good reviews and i opted to get one.

Put it up today next to my old tourny pro –

Setting the 774 up section to section agains the Pro you could feel the weight difference straight away. At 11.5 and 13m the 774 felt a milion miles better (imo) – my mate who was with me was up for selling his and getting one.

Then something really interesting happened….added the 14.5 m section to both and the tourny felt as good, the 774 still felt nice but the difference between the two witnessed (in my opinion anyway)at shorter lengths was not as noticable. Then the 16m sections went on and i really think the Tourny was a lot more responsive, its heavier but i think the balance was better and in a really stiff breeze the was certainly less tip movement on the Tourny.

I’m not saying the Pro is a better pole their is not really that much between them, and for fishing lengths 13m and shorter I’d say the 774 is much better balanced, however adding the last couple of sections has really got me thinking!!~think

Before I had my TP I used an “old” Tournament X. I still use the X if I know I am going to be fishing at 12.5 metres or less because it is so much lighter than the TP and the pole is still in very good condition. At 14.5 + the TP is in another league and far stiffer and more responsive than the X so it would seem that superlight and very long don’t go well together. ~think
