hi i have just read the post on the fluorocarbon line which has got my little brian thinking, so i was wandering on what hook size and pattern would you use with this line for silvers using caster and worm.

When I’m fishing for ide or I’m bagging I will generally chose a ‘Gama wide gape maggot’ in an 18/20. These hooks do seem slightly large for their size so bear this mind but they are extremely strong, sharp and durable.

Gamma all round are also great hooks and are as they state a very good all rounder! I’ve used these for fishing worm over ground bait and they are superb mainly because they don’t blunt easily.

When finesse is required you can’t beat a gamma black or green. I’ve landed carp upto 4lb in winter on a green so I know they have surprising levels of strength!

They are many other very good patterns too including the drennan range but the above are the most commonly used by myself whether I use mono or fluro.

not tried a lot of hooks for silvers but tubertini 808 work very well in size 18 or 20, very sharp and you can land decent bonus fish on them too, but that I mean carp to 5-7lb in open water no problem
