TF_carpcruncherParticipantHas anyone read the news story in Anglers Mail about the Irish Team. It looks like the whole thing is falling to pieces over there. Shame really after their result this year??~think

TF_caster robParticipantDon’t read the AM but I’m guessing it’s to do with what happens to a country that adopts a currency that is suited to an economy (say Germany perhaps?) that is much different and inherently stronger than its own.
Some people have to learn the hard way.

What are you talking about, you haven’t read the article but your assuming it’s something to do with politics or a Countries currency.
Carpcruncher: Apparently it’s to do with the Irish fed readvertising the managers job and them wanting to have qualifiers to decide the teams for competions.

TF_EndaIt is terrible what the supposed governing body, the NCFFI, have allowed to happen.
They can step in at any stage and fix it but they are the ones who are saying that the way the team was picked last year was wrong.
How can a bunch of guys most whom no nothing about international match fishing say a 4th place and an individual silver medal was from a team that was picked the wrong way!
As for their press release that is saying that it is the economic crisis that has caused this, pure farmyard manure of the highest standard!! -

TF_HillbillyI hope it can be sorted as after such a good showing in the last WC’s it would be a shame not to see an Irish team in the competition.

cathalParticipantThe mail got the facts correct apart from one, I asked for a wild card not a date change, one had been given to our last Silver medalist. The NCFFI’s response to the situation was laughable. ‘None of last years team, will be able to afford to travel to next years events’, What a load of Bo**ox, it cost me very little last year for nearly 3 weeks away. Nobody’s place on the team is guaranteed, however what they did was try and satisfy a few rubbish anglers who felt that they should have been selected for the team, even though they came near last at the trials. I am gutted about the whole situation, but there are more important things in life and I guess you move on.

TF_dunnoI like Cathal am one of the 14 Irish International Team members who represented last year who did not put their names forward for the ‘Qualifiers’. What Cathal and Enda says is correct.
I for one was not canvassed seeking my avaiability or inavailability for the trials. I certainly did not state that I could not afford to go next year. I know for a fact had Richard Caplice remained in his position a five figure sponsorship deal was on the table which could have covered all anglers costs.
A great deal of thanks is due to Mr Phil Briscoe at Maver Uk who has supported the Irish Team fastidiously through thick and thin.
The conduct of the NCFFI which is in disarray and under investigation themselves leaves alot to be desired.

TF_dunnoArticle is spot on.
I for one was not contacted by the NCFFI to seek my availability. I am one of the 14 2010 Internationals who didnt put their name forward to fish in 2011. How could I after the way the NCFFI treated our manager.
I never cited financial constraints for my withdrawl. How could I when Richard Caplice has arranged for super funding to cover most of the costs for our trips in 2009 and 2010. I was aware that he has better arangements were being made for 2011 with sponsors.
2010 was the only year that Richard Caplice managed Ireland at the World Championships. Fintan Lawlor managed in 2008 and Oliver McAuley in 2009. (Dick did however manage the Celtic Cup Teams in 2008 and 2009. He was responsible for 9 new caps over that period.)
How then is his 3 year term as team manager over???A HUGE work of thanks must go to MR PHIL BRISCOE OF MAVER UK who suported the Irish Team through thick and thin. I for one believe without his support we couldnt of continued to develop and compete with the World’s top teams.
As for the NCFFI their response was an ass covering exercise from a Federation which is in turmoil.
Im looking forward to fishing next years European Police Angling Championships in Holland and teaching my kids how to fish.
As for International match fishing in Ireland. My opinion is, its dead and buried. ~naughty ~naughty
