I have been pondering over which meat cutter/s to buy. I am looking for a 6mm & 8mm.

The concept of the MAP cutter caught my eye with the interchangeable blades, but I have heard mixed reviews about it.

I notice that there are some Tilley type imitations on Fleabay. Has anyone bought these? Are they any good? The only difference that I could imagine would be that the wire would be soft and flimsey.

I think my options are and would appreciate comments on the following:

        1. Tilley (although they don’t do 8mm)
        2. J Range
        3. Maver
        4. Sonu
        5. Waterline
        6. Cheap Fleabay rip off

I had this dillema, buit i went to the tackle shop and got the map one out and had it explained to me.
then went to look at my mates cutter made by Tilley.
I went for the map one and love it!

MCM. I bought a set after watching Mick Wilkinson cube a tray of meat in minutes!
They come with spare wires too. I’ve had mine a few years now and not had to replace the wires yet.

Available in loads of sizes. Not the cheapest though! A quality piece of kit. Sold at Whiteacres, Davies angling and possibly direct from the manufacturer still.

Map. I looked at the Tilley but went for the MAP, can cut tins in seconds, throw in the dishwasher & forget about it.

mcm’s as the map ones cut the meat slighty smaller than mine. well they prob cut it a true 6mm but i prefer it to be more like 7mm. save ur money for now an wait till meat starts workin again might be sumat new out by then

                              Thanks for the replies guys…..

No negatives for the MAP from anyone…the reviews I saw were from a while ago so if there was a problem in their early days then perhaps now its resolved.

Seems like the MAP it is then.

                              Ta again.

i have the map one, its a good bit of kit but if you dont have a dishwasher its a pain to clean especially when cutting the 4mm cubes. ultimate advertise a set of three different size metal cutters for £25 BARGAIN!

Found the 4mm a pain on the MAP, but very good on the larger sizes, 6mm & 8mm

Used Tackle do 2 cutters or 3 cutters, I don’t think ultimate do cutters

Is it the Avanti ones that you are on about?

I did see a post on MD’ers that someone had been using them for a couple of years with no wire breakages or any problems at all.

                                        Seems like a bargain to me….£25 for 4, 6 & 8mm cutters.
