Was thinking the same , so many people slag these off , from what people say I think the only use is marginwork.

I use the big bore power kits and find them great they are lighter than the ctk5 and ctk10 power kits more like match kits so the pole stays stiffer,I prefer to use these than any other kit (match or power) for hydro or doubled up laccy, I think the kits that are being slagged off as you put it are the new match kits with the big bore no 1’s with various different diameter bores which I can’t for the life of me understand why daiwa bought them out, anyone who owns a daiwa pole tends to have had a few of the same brand as kits are generally the same the old kits get used on the new pole, why then would you buy longer match kits with big bore number ones?

just use a match kit with the number 1 removed.

I use the Big Bores for anything heavier than Black Hydro and find that they are a bit less balanced than match kits, but still well fishable at length.
Would not touch CTK power tops apart from fishing less than 8 metres!

I use BBK1’s on all of my top kits and fish them up to 19metres no problemo, they are cut back substancially but still longer than a normal match kit with the No1 taken out.

As for balance and weight, can’t see what all the fuss is about especially when you’ve probably got 1.5 metre of hydro inside ~think

dont bother mate ive had 2 for ages bought them to use with 16+ elastics absolute garbage unbalance your pole and are made of cheap carbon i use a tourney pro if u was wondering what pole ive got now ive 2 top kits chucked in garage

they are better than ctk5’s for balance but i woudn’t use them for fishing long. Stick with match kits less the no1.

I have 10 of the big bore kits and can’t fault them really. They are cut back to the length of a match kit with the no.1 removed and so they are very stiff. I’ve had them bent in half from where I’ve foul-hooked a double figure carp in the margin and the kit was being pulled round a tree and it remained in one piece, very strong kits that’s for sure.

Are you sure you are using BBK1’s, as these are just a long number 1 / 2 (1 piece) which fits into the match number 3.~think

I use Big Bore Power Kits and they are superb.

The BBK1 fits the no.3 section. The kit overall is very light but incredibly strong. It takes Red Hydro with ease.

Ive used them fishing 17.5m and its no problem.

Use them with a short No.3 and with a little bit of butting back they are the same length as a MT2 and work very well for big elastics.
