I bought the liner socks (merlino wool) and the thickest pair of seal-skinz off the internet. Well worth the money….not cheap mind but you get what you pay for nowadays.

The socks are sealskinz mid-thermal they are waterproof and made of merino wool and come half way up your calves, I have a pair and wear them with a base layer sock as recommended and the Skeetex moon boots over the top but still get cold feet.

Have found that these socks are good, but… if you wear boots that are too tight around the toes and ankle you might just as well not have bothered putting them on. I’m not saying the boots need to be so loose fitting that your feet come out at the slightest tug of mud, but you definitely need them to be ‘roomy’.

I’ve also found that using odour eaters durable liners to be very effective, they absorb the moisture from your feet that is the main cause of them getting cold.

Bridgedale Summit socks are much warmer than Sealskinz and cost just under a tenner. I do also have a couple of pairs of Sealskinz, which come into their own when waterproofing is more important than warmth.

have just added heated insoles(battery pack strapped around sealskinz)from Maplins approx. a tenner. They work! mind you – a bit of a struggle to fit into my skeetex-but warm feet yesterday!
